Go to a merchant with a 100 gold and buy an id kit. double click the kit then click the item you are identifying.

Depends on the kit you buy. It'll have the number of remaining uses listed on the kit. Also, if your char is starting in Factions or NF, you can trade in your monastery credits and battle commendations for the id kits by talking the respective quartermasters.
