Would this work?

Well, my parents and I are planning on buying a new computer. After looking we came upon one, and started customizing. Now i dont know crap about computers, so i came here to ask.

Now my question is would this computer run Guild Wars at all, and if it does would it run smoothly or meh?

Should run smoothly on medium graphic settings. You won't be able to run it on max settings without having a huge fps cut though, but its more than capable enough to run guildwars efficiently.

after re-looking at that the graphics card looks a little underwhelmed. You might wanna go for the 256mb 2400 as it will have a faster core clock speed and be able to cycle graphics faster and should help increase your framerate in a town or outpost.

Im running GW on a comp with half those specs, but a better graphix card.

In the end I think the major factor in running a game like GW is the graphix card and your internet conection.

As long as you meet minimum specs and have at least 1g of ram, the above is pretty much true.

I have a similar setup, except I have an AMD processor and an NVidia video card (of similar quality), and I'm running XP instead of Vista. I have all of the settings on max except the screen resolution (I think I have it at 1024x768, or maybe the next one up), and I have no issues.

total was 1155 shipped to my door. Dell for a XPS of similar stats wanted 1900. Im pretty sure that having them make you a system close to what your dell has will be much cheaper on you and your parents.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the major PC makers. They use the cheapest crap they can find, lots of it is nonstandard, and it's all unreliable. For $1000, you could get a crapbox Dell that will run games at a barely acceptable level, or you could get a decent computer from a non-major maker. Yichi's PC would wipe the floor with a similarly-priced Dell. If it's an option, find somebody local to order the parts and build the PC for you. The quality will be much higher for the price, with the only tradeoff being no centralized tech support.
