Hello everyone, as you know - the main event of Wintersday is coming up soon. January 1st to be exact. I have a bad habit of missing the "main" part of holiday events, and the trend seems to follow me this year. I will be in Philadelphia for a few days, and one of those is Jan. 1st. I do have a laptop, but its a Macbook Pro.. and I'm not even bringing it.
The whole point of this thread is that, my mom has actually agreed to sign on my account and try to get me the hats, if I give her explicit instructions. She has slight computer experience... but nothing like Guild Wars haha.
So far this is what I'm giving her:
+Double click "Guld Wars" on desktop
+Under password type in _____ and hit enter
+Make sure the big guy with the hood and colorful armor with shellss is highlighted, and hit enter
+You should see a loading screen with "Kamadan, Jewel of Istan" at the top
+When you get in the town, you should be in a lower part.. with stairs on either side. There should be two sets of 9 rings
+Check the top-left of the screen, it will say "American English District X"
+If the number is even, stand in one of the rings on the north side, and if its odd.. stand in one of the rings on the south side (for both of those.. there should be a lot of people standing in the according rings)
+Sign on at 3pm, and do an even district
+Sign on at 6pm, and do an odd district
++Thanks so much mom!
[edit 1 from Kook]
Things I need to clarify, is that correct overall? (I've missed both of the past Wintersdays)
and... for the even/odd thing - I'm pretty sure fixedeven is Dwayna and odd is Grenth, but which "side" of the lower[the old trading floor] part of Kamadan would be for them. I made a note that there should be a lot of people standing in the rings, so she can just move over to that part.
If anybody can answer anything, or add stuff, or just do a rewrite that might sound better - that would be great. Thanks so much. I just really want these hats because I only got the one from the Dragon Festival.. and I've been playing for 31 months -_-
Thanks again!

Probably easier than north and south -
The ledge with the coffin and tomb stones is behind Grenth's rings and the ledge with the candy canes and presents is behind Dwayna.
Although, it won't matter where she stands - as long as she is in an even district one time and an odd district the next she will probably get both hats for you because you don't have to be on the rings to get the hat (She might want to check and make sure more people are on Dwayna's side one time and on Grenth's the other - just to be sure)
If she is willing - you might let her know that presents will drop for you each time and show her how to pick them up - the presents will be customized.

You can skip the password entering part by making a new shortcut called "MOM CLICK THIS" and adding account name and password (do a search for the exact commands).
BTW does your mom have gaming experience? Cuz moving about in the game is not as easy as writing in passwords or clicking on characters.
Set your game to "click to run to" and make sure you explain to her how to move and change the view.
Although for getting the hat you can skip this part i think. Hats are given out to all people in the district so your mom only needs to log in your character and place him in the right district.
Also i suggest using 2 or more intervals instead of one so 6 hours apart at least. You ll have a higher chance of getting the right hats if people dont follow the odd-even agreement.

If you can find the time your best bet is to do it once with your Mom, that way you can explain the stuff thats hard to explain on paper (like character movement). If she's never played computer games before there's allot of information and it helps to have someone there so it doesn't seem to overwhelming.

Neon... do a walk through with her. Let her do all the actions, while you coach. Beware of teaching her too much about GW though. She might enjoy herself too much, and then you'll be obligated to take her to 12-step meetings for GW addiction later on.

I appreciate all the responses, but the whole thing fell through. I was teaching her how to do stuff, and then my friend offered to just log into my account and get them.. so I told her not to worry, that "Dave" will take care of it. So we dropped the "lessons", I went to Philly to hang out with some pretty ladies haha, and just got back home - noticing that "Dave" in fact, did not get my hats. So for the third Wintersday in a row, I missed the prize
Hopefully GW 2 will bring things to me that I can actually get >.<
Thanks again everybody! Hope you all had a good New Years
