Change Wintersday gift drops

I'm sure this has been in since the beginning but every year I hear people complaining about it. Whenever Grenth wins on Wintersday, of course all the presents spawn and you have to find the one that's assigned to you, and then the Grentches just kill you before you can get to it. And the lag is horrible as it is because everyone is there. So my idea is either automatically put your Wintersday gifts in inventory like the hats, and/or get rid of the Grentchies, or at least make it so they don't kill you until they're about to leave or something.

I didnt even get to get a chance to pick up most of my presents. I ended up just getting upset and leaveing once I recieved my Hat. Every one in my guild also had the same problem. They kept Rubber-Banding around LA. I heard that the other town that has the holiday drops isnt as bad (I cant remeber the name off the top of my head).

ofc they should be in the inventory, this lagfest is beyond ridiculous

last event i barely got 2 or 3 before the whole thing froze, i thought my GW was crashed, and then in just a sec, every items and most people poofed out. That was over ^^ (even ping display was off )

/signed for this, please. Seeing the gifts drop is awesome, but if there's going to be this much lag/whining/gift sniping, it loses all its fun. I left the rings area, where the action was, so I wouldn't lag out and could actually grab my gifts. It was still a hassle, but because I moved, I'm apparently doing better than a LOT of people this year.

/signed, easiest solution is to have the gifts spawn in inventory.

I guess Anet just didn't want people to afk* in LA/Kamaden for the duration of the event, otherwise the pressies would;ve spawned in your inventory

I guess one reason against having the presents go into inventory is to stop people logging on for the duration and just standing on one circle afk for the whole event..
Or at least till they think they need to clear inventory to make space for more.

Done the hats twice today, every time there was a drop of presents I just pressed the key to see which one was mine all the rest turned grey.

Wasn't a great hassle, I was getting 7 frames a second on pc but no bad lag all event so far.

Eh... at least it isn't like the first wintersday when presents just droped unassigned

Seriously, you have 15 miniutes before the stuff goes unassigned. If you are lagging so much that you can't hit ; (auto target item, useful in picking up presents when they become unassigned and in snowball arena) + space bar 15 times or so in 15 miniutes...

It would be nice to just add them to your invintory, BUT I think the reason it is done the way it is is to prevent people from just AFKing to get presents. So...

Althought the lag is almost unbearable, it's so much fun to run around to get your presents ^^.

Also people who afk will get presents, that's not so good.

The real cause of the lag this year wasn't the presents, or the miniatures, or really anything in Guild Wars. There was an issue with a distributor or something like that.

So really, putting gifts into inventories would only end up encouraging going AFK.

I got error 7 twice on a normally perfect connection.

Btw, what's so wrong with people afking for presents? Is the sky falling on the price of sweets/alcohol again?

signed for letting presents drop direct into the inventories.. this way the events are far less laggy and then anet just needs only to think of a way..that prevents people from AFK'ing so simple ...

for example..people which are longer than x minutes standing around in towns...get automatically moved to an other district....
or even will automatically get logged out ..so simple ... (to character choose screen)


god people..don't be ever so pessimistic, as if there are no solutions for such minor problems like AFK'ing people XD

Change it so that only one present per person can be in existance, once that person picks it up then the next one will spawn.

To be honest both of your solution would really piss a lot of people off including myself, people who don't afk.

As far as the those that afk, let the admins kick everyone that is afk before an event, any event.

There is no need to.

They drop assigned, o you have more than 10 minutes to go and pick it.

The only change needed in the Wintersday rewards is to replace the Prophecies quest rewards with candy cane shards. 24 for each quest. So if people want the shields or Foci, go to the crafter and pick any of them with 12 shards. And if they do not need any, they can use the shards and still have a reason to make the quests.

its not as bad as you think, if you tae a look at details on grenth districts, whenever grenths win, green smoke in ring form spawn over us then presents drop, wich is the main cause of lag, of course assigned presents, but once all that is over and presents are free for all, you are able to pick em lag less,

i was at district 3 kamadan, and on first wintersday finale, i picked up at least 80 presents its better this way, if you lag just go international districts, no lagg, and you can pick up 20 presents or more that way

admins mod gm or any1 wouldnt implement that, because not every1 can be in game at those finale times, and there is no way for them to get hat, i myself leave my char afk at finale, so i get hats
