kid:but its fun mommy!

son: mom its not just killing monsters there are skills like blacksmithing, crafting, and tailoring.
mom: well im glad to see your being constructive go ahead and keep playing!

Last I checked, killing things was the focus of RPGs. What exactly were you looking for, mining/smithing/etc? Nobody knows; it's still much too early.
As a side note, I hope these activities are not implemented. The current armor crafting system is ideal.

I like the idea of having a house for my char to rest in whilst I am not playing

i would really hate to see gw2 released and it still be the same thing with nothing to do outside of combat.

There are other things to do besides killing monsters! You can kill other players too:
Mom: You have been sitting there for hours don't you get bored killing monsters?
Kid: DOn't worry mom I'm not killing monsters! I'm killing other people!

Seriously, no parent would say you are being "productive" playing any video game.

While I'm not a fan of the idea of having for lack of a better term "mundane" mini-games like mining, smithing, etc; I think GW2 (heck even GW1) could benefit from a few well thought out puzzles. I rather liked the Hidden City of Ashadim (or however it's spelled) mission because of this. I think dungeons and the like in particular could benefit from something a bit more cerebral than "Kill our way to the end".

I hope it doesnt have stuff like that.
Ive never seen a game pull them off in a way which isnt extremely boring and repetative.
As for things like housing. Why?
I dont see GW as being that type of game.
So you can invite people round to an ingame house and do what? Talk?
Thats a lot of work to do something you can already do.
GW for the most part IS all killing. Its great because it doesnt have all that extra fluff in the way.
There are however, for those that enjoy it, many other games that include things like this. Its always nice to have a few games that do it differently.

Thats a lot of work for no real gain.
I hope they focus on the core gameplay over little bits of shiny (or not so shiny).
Shadow Spirit
There ARE other video/computer games in the world. If you're not having fun killing monsters in GW, play something else for a while and come back when you get the urge to kill monsters again.
GW is good at what it does. We don't need to complicate things...

As long as GW2 doesn't facilitate the need to do extra-combat activities, I don't care what they add.

add in fishing! I love to fish in Real Life...therefor if GW had fishing I would only have one hobby.

I think it would be a nice touch to add in districts where characters can interact in the explorable areas; it's nice to have them empty for beginners, new chars, etc., without a bunch of elites hacking everything, but a few districts with respawning and pvp action as well as monsters would be interesting.
as for minigames, and non-martial activities, yeah, it'd be a good change from the usual brawl, or even quests that don't involve slaughtering your way to the end. A quest where you have to find the secret combination to the hidden vault, or solving mysteries that actually take some thought rather than following the green arrow to the finish. i mean, seriously, i don't have to read what i'm doing for any quest or mission. I just look for npcs with green pointer, click green box, follow green arrow.

I play GW to kill things. When I get tired of that I log off and do something else.
