hello, i've been looking for a good PVE hero bulid with a hammer.

i suppose in PvE anything that has
Earth Shaker, Whirlwhind + crude swing is good. Oh and Crushing blow is good

You can't have Whirlwind Attack on a hero.
For knockdowns, you really have two choices, Backbreaker and Earthshaker. Backbreaker is nice because you can force cast it on a particularily annoying enemy to shut them down for a solid four seconds. Earthshaker is probably more useful in general because enemies bunch up well. So we have Earthshaker for starters, add Crushing Blow because deep wound is amazing. An IAS is always nice, on a hero I'd use Tiger's Stance or Flurry. Enraging Charge will get his skills charged up quickly which is important due to the large cost of your elite. Counter Blow is basically Hammer Bash for two less adrenaline and without losing all your adrenaline when you use it. In PvE, your enemies will wand whenever they're not actively running or casting. "Watch Yourself!" is one of the best passive buffs in the game for your entire party and "For Great Justice!" Allows you to charge your skills extremely quickly for the duration of a battle.

Hammer builds are kinda tough to use on a hero--sometimes they execute the combo right, and sometimes they randomly use any attack skill at random moments whether its condition has been met or not.

Yup, definately go with flail if it's available, both Tiger Stance and Flurry are meh at best.
Btw, is it just me or did I read Turtle222's post as Whirlwind as in the air ele skill, not whirlwind attack? In that case, it may be interesting (i.e, I don't know how good it is or if it ever works) to see how Earth Shaker -> Crude Swing -> Whirlwind -> Crude Swing (how long is the recharge?) -> Earth Shaker -> etc. Has an AoE style to it rather than single target demolition. Heroes probably won't be able to work it though. EDIT: 5 second recharge on Crude Swing. If you had FGJ up you could recharge Earth Shaker in one swing anyway so it still may work, but still it wouldn't be the best thing available.
