Acquiring Razah
Darth Marth
I am struggling to do Finding a Purpose with heroes/henchmen...previously I was easily able to take out groups of torment creatures in the same size groups as I encounter in the Heart of Abaddon with just h/h, but I can't even clear the first room in this quest without racking up prohibitively high amounts of DP. I can't understand how or why it's so much harder, but the torment creatures now somehow wipe my party out with ease, even on normal mode. Can anyone share help as to party composition/tactics to use in order to actually survive? (Is going for the monks first the best strategy?) I really want a Ritualist hero...

If you run straight in, the first fight will be against two groups - one static, and one moving patrol - it will be a tough one to win. If you wait when you enter the explorable area, pull back a little and wait a short while you will be able to pull and fight the patrol on its own, and after that, it's tougher than other PvE areas, but definitely doable with H/H. I don't mind helping out on it if you're still stuck - I'm sure I have a character or two I still need to pick up Razah on.
The demon monks are pretty ineffective IMO - I usually take out the Rains of Terror first, which can mess you up pretty badly with a Deep Freeze spike if there are two or more.

I was indeed sure to pull only the patrol first. But despite it being similarly sized to the ones in Gate of Madness, they are able to kill several of my party members. Later groups continue this and soon I have too much DP. My main character is a Mesmer, and hexes are rather important to his damaging capabilities. (Though he can go nuker if necessary) Can anyone give me a partu composition of heroes/henches that worked for them? If anyone is kind enough to help me get Razah, my IGN is Darth Marth.

Also having a high rank in lightbringer helps alot, i was fornutate to have a party of half pug have heroes, and 3 member were rank 8, so we kept spaming lightbringers gaze, and tore right threw them, plus we had 3 monks also.

we just went and ripped them a new one. tore right through them. ursan ftw

Once you get through the first mob, have a live ritualist cast [skill]Gaze of Fury[/skill] on the allied spirit. Continue through and have him cast GoF again on the next 2 allied spirits you see, make your way to razah and you won't have to backtrack and fight more mobs.
Edit: Bring interrupts to handle the Rains and the Words.

It's really not that bad. Just remember to flag H/H back at the start gate and pull the first group with a bow. I've done this with my warrior, Rit, and monk. My party was usually 2 Monk hench, 2 SF ele heroes, 1 MM hero, me, 2 ele hench, and 1 ranger hench. I hate micromanaging so the only management I do is flagging in the beginning.
