Where happened to the nice Gold drops?
strat_53711
A couple of months ago, I started vanquishing and mapping Tyria, Cantha, and Elona (for a Rainbow Phoenix).
I finished it on 12/30/2007.
Of all the gold drops (not from chests):
None of the weapons had 15^50 mod.
None of the weapons had 20/20 Sundering mod.
One weapon had +30 hp Fortification mod.
One weapon had Req 9 (with no damage mod, non inscriptable)
In my case, hard mode clearing of all the areas gave me squat!!!
I have made my money and have all the weapons that I really want. I have a decent collection of Req 8 15^50 swords. I remember chest running and farming (Sorrows Furnace, UW, FOW, Imperial Palace, Naphui Quarters, and The Deep) which gave me plenty of nice weapons.
It sucks that new players do not have a chance to get these nice items anymore.
Screw the Guild Wars economy (it's hosed already) !!! Change the code and bring back the days of nice gold drops.

Yeah, I haven't gotten anything decent in a long time. But I won't really complain about that to much because I don't want an overload of nice weapons.
The only complaint I have is the lack of an auction house. GW really needs to have one because selling by 'Trade Chat' does nothing but piss me off. I got quite a few Greens/Golds/Upgrades that I want to sell, but I don't feel like spending 3 hours in town spamming my items.

I raptor farmed last week. Got three 15^50s, a +30 hp mod, and a bunch of crap I'm trying to sell. I only did an hour's worth of farming.

I just did a bit more of wurm LB/SS farming and got one 15^50 and one +30 out of about 10 weapons (also two +5 energies which I used). I didn't pay attention to the req on them as none of the skins were rare and I had no use for them otherwise.
For me the mods drop max MUCH more often in HM than they ever did before - I used 14^50, +29hp, and other one or two off max mods for ages. In fact, all but my most used two or three characters normally didn't even have that until HM was released now I have to have an inventory cleaning sale from time to time and unless it is max I even have issues giving the stuff away.
Considering how the price dropped to the floor on the old mods at the same time HM was released I rather suspect I'm not the only one who experienced that. I doubt that both supply *and* price dropped (and stayed down) with little to no change in demand.

I've had loads of golds recently, but all have either been 14^50, or +29, no perfects at all.

i'm not really sure what happened...must've shipped a broken game

[QUOTE=Sir Seifus Halbred]You have made your money and have a good collection of valuable items? So then why are you complaining?
This game is on the DECLINE. I went through every zone in the game. There were very few PUG groups throughout all three continents. The atmosphere of the game has changed to where it's easier to run missions and quests with heros/henchies.
If ANET rewarded extra drops to full groups formed with real characters, the atmosphere of meeting other users would be rekindled. IMHO, whether your questing or farming, the game is better when your interacting with real people (even though many suck at playing the game).

same thing happened here nothing good

the only problem with that is pugs are now all ursaway.....
yeah the economy is screwedup....we all know that (and no I dont have uber items and a +29 is just as good for me as a +30, one point different is not enough for me to worry about).....
I have been getting tons of gold drops this week, all merch food, but I just sell them to the merch or give them to a hero (who doesnt complain that his mod is only +28, geesh).
(on the other hand my id-ing title is getting much closer to the next level so I dont mind crummy gold drops).

The problem with this is even if something is broken, unless you have sufficient proof, all anet has to do is say something about luck and then bury their head in the sand. Even if you had sufficient proof, all they have to do is say you gathered it at the wrong time and that was luck as well. :\

This is end game playing for me, I've done mostly everything. The only reason I vanquished and mapped was to get the Rainbow Phoenix.
The game seems to be dying. Or at least the play style has radically changed from PUG to Hero/Hench. For me it was just more enjoyable playing in PUG groups. Now it's rare to find pug groups for quests and missions.
If people still are buying the game's, it would be nice for the new users to experience the thrill of getting a Req 8 15^50 uninscribable weapon. I've had my share (mostly from January 2006 thru July 2006, Tyria and Cantha farming).

Actually the loot quality does go up for real people groups... I remember when HM came out and you could get a group, it would rain nice drops on us doing missions. I don't know about vanquishing. It's impossible to get people who want to go for that. I think they should undo this system since it was a huge failure (as you said nobody is around PUGing anywhere) and in many people's opinion screwed up the drops for h/h players.

It might be that you can actually see what drops for 8 humans, but you can't see what drops for your 7 h&h. Mhenlo's stealing all my loot.
4 vanquish zones in the last 2 days, 0 gold, 0 tomes, 4 purples, lotsa whites and blues.

I've got a guild that I can get together for vanquishing and the like. Even then, drops are moderate to bad golds. The best vanquish run I've been on is when we did Arbor Bay, and early on two people got Elemental Swords. Our main problem is that most people have "been there done that" with HM, and getting a full human party together is near impossible. So we're screwed out of good drops by having to carry along 3-4 Heroes just to fill out the party order.
So ANet, make it so that if there is more than 1 human in the party, the drops get much better. I'm tired of seeing the equivalent of cow-crap in "Hard Mode" with its "3x gold drop rate."

Are you blind kobey? We needed an action house since day 0. We still need it and are still going to need it.
Player to Player trading is dead except for uber unique items, for everything else it is just not worth it to spam and sell it even if you *could* make much more (how much you make depends on wasted time, if farming would give you more per hr then it was a waste).

The reqs were 12 and 13 if I remember correctly, and they did not drop for me, sadly.

I average 1 gold drop every 2 minutes or less while farming. Sometimes it's every minute. Hard mode, of course. I have to laugh when I see loot scaling mentioned in the same breath as gold drops. The quality of gold drops is still random, and always has been. By quality, I refer to the requirement and mods. Also, Sundering swords make me cringe. Actually, Sundering makes me cringe, period. It's not high on my list of "good" mods. YMMV
edit: Vanquishing is not for the drops; it's a poor way to find "gold" weapons.

I think they should change the fact that Heros and Henchies steal your treasure.....is especially lame having to buy them upgrades too.
I dunno, my few experiences with groups werent wildly fun or more productive....in fact the biggest turnoff was seeing people in the middle of battles stop to pick up treasure, no better than heros stealing the loot, and worse I'm talkin middle of combat while other team members were fightin for thier lives.
The real issue here is A-net needs to come up with some kind of change for the loot system...everything I can see that they do only makes stuff better for the peeps that have been around the block already and the people who are new get the shaft.

I started farming after the nerf so I cant really compare it to anything, but I must say that is pretty poor. I think the nerfing is affecting all the new ppl that are trying to make enough money for cool armors etc. The ppl that were around before the nerf are already filthy rich and have the cool wpns and armors already, not rlly affecting them. So they need to come up with a better idea.
To MIsterB - where the heck do you farm, a gold a minute? -_-

I wonder how many threads in the history of this forum have been about the decrease of drops...

So what do you think bringing this up again after 2.5years and towards the end of GW will do?
And no, not everybody need it. I have been doing fine without it. Many others too. There are opportunities with or without auction house. It depends on the individual to take advantage of this opportunity or sit there and complain about it.
And who says trading is dead? I trade on and off with mid range items (eternal blade, voltaic spears, non-inscri weapons) and made a nice sum lately, at least enough for me to fund my paragon weapons. If I can do it, I don't see why can't others. And in case you are wondering, I started with only barely 100k and a few ectos few days ago.
If people don't know how to trade, providing an auction house won't help them to sell items for their full potential price.

I've been playing for two years, and I've gotten ONE req9 15^50 drop. And I got my first green drop months into DoA. A year and a half into the game I got my first +30mods for martial weapons. I'd say some people just have worse luck than others in game. That doesn't bother me - what bothers me is that the lucky people take it for granted D:

Somtimes i think it isn't always necessary that we don't get good drops. We might get a rare drop, but we just didn't know its rare.
How many people merched colossal scimitars at the beginning of Nightfall? Not many people know of its rarity or high demand till quite some time.
Same goes for mini pet. One might get a mini-gwen as a birthday present, and didn't like it, and sold for 20k to the next person who WTB.

IME the drops really are much better in human groups. Try it, join a human group to vanquish a zone and only look at the loot you personally get.
