In-game music switcher
all13d
I'm not sure if this has already been proposed, so pardon me if it has.
What I mean by a music switcher is an in-game jukebox of area music, like some other games have (e.g. Eve Online).
Because frankly, some themes are pretty awesome, and it would be nice to be able to listen to them outside the area they are linked to.
Thoughts?

In general, it doesn't seem like something that would get much use, (even w/ the music on I rarely notice it).

If I had the option to choose which songs GW played, sorta like a playlist, I would definitely use their music over mine.

I press F11, turn ingame music off, and play the StarCraft soundtrack.

Run something like winamp!
Blue Is Coming
I PvP more so i don't use the GW music like other posters, and just use SFX. A playlist i guess would be usefull, i mgiht even be inclined to use it
ATM if i get bored i stick on some ITunes, some music would be useful when i PvE, i get quite bored running for quests

I play the GW thrugh music through WMP, that way you can get it all shuffled up.

I wish we had:
- Track announcer:a small icon like the connection LED, but that will popup the current track name when hovering the cursor over it, with the shape of the DirectSong note logo.
- Next track, by clicking the same icon, the next track in the tracklist of the area is played (Each area has a tracklist, dependand on campaign, region, the area itself and even being in battle or not).

Perhaps we should all go pirate the GW music, run it in a secondary music app, and do it ourselves?

P.S. Although, something like this is basically impossible to put in, because Anet isn't gonna revamp anything for the current GW. But, it would be nice for GW2.

I like this idea, because I like a lot of the music. Also, impliment the ability to choose which login screen and music you're forced to see/listen to when you start up the game. Prophecies had the best start up music, but I loved Faction's login screen (standing on the lone stone pole in the middle of no where). GIVE ME THE ABILITY OR DIE!!! ><

I have all DirectSong music, and I don't want to waste RAM using the media player. I just want to see the current tack name and switch beteen the current tracks of the current area playlist.
Just that:
- Track name.
- Play next.

Because honestly, some of the Factions music is pretty damn good. I'd love to be able to listen to it outside of <insert area here>.

Maybe...
There could be a simple, Start menu-like menu poppip in that icon when you click on it:
- Next track
- Previous track
- Mute
---In-game music-----
- Prophecies
- Factions
- Nightfall
- GW:EN
---Bonus music----
- Guild Wars Battle Pak One
- Guild Wars Eye of the North Original Soundtrack
- Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition
- Guild Wars Factions Original Soundtrack
- Guild Wars Nightfall Collector's Edition
- Guild Wars Nightfall Original Soundtrack
- Guild Wars Special Edition Soundtrack
- Mp3
- Sorrow's Furnace Mini-Pak
Than, click the menu, and choose the option, just like there are folders with templates, the game would see the folders inside the DirectSong folder and show a made menu based on it.
If you want to play a certain song, you choose it, t you want the game to continue playing the ingame track, you choose Play Next.
Since the Furnace pack is for FREE anyone can have a Directsong folder installed.
And this would have a nice extra feature: CUTOMIZED SONGS
The ds_GuildWars.dll allow playing mp3 files, so you could put your favourite songs, put them inside a ffolder, and by adding an option "Play all tracks in this folder" at the start of each submenu, ding.
Done.
Yeah... that's sounds like the perfet definite and ultimate way.

THE GSP OWNS U NUBZ!!!1!eleven!
Too bad you need to run AO to be able to do /request(and have a live DJ on but that is another story)
And you should set your ALT+key = skip, or get a keyboard that has a skip button on it by default.
