Best Hero builds for farming Secret Lair of the Snowmen?
Jagged
I really love Secret Lair, it looks like AOE heaven. Any recommendations for good Hero AOE builds that will clean out the place on HM?
Masta Panda
vekk/zhed FTW! SH or SF works wonders with searing and tenais heat along with rodgorts
Pyro maniac
[skill]Mind Blast[/skill] + [skill]Rodgort's Invocation[/skill]

I just go with 3 sf heroes. Nothing special, I am myself a paragon so bringing defensive anthem, they're on fire, save yourselves etc. helps.
Basically just bring fire builds and enough defense to survive a few volleys of snowballs and your set. The snowmen will melt in seconds.

Healing Magic: 10 Rodgorts Invoke on an SF bar?
Anyway, to the OP: R/Rt splinter barrage? just making sure you are microing it ofc.
If not, mindblast/rodgorts is the way to go

I am starting to think mindblast + rodgorts would be better. Better e-management and you should probably make 2 eles e/mo and bring aegis to chain manually because it's kind of easy to get spiked gown by snowballs. And yes aegis should work on snowballs because when I used a paragon with defensive anthem it blocked 50% of them.

Thanks, i'll check these out. I was also using [skill]Winds[/skill] (Vanguard Rep, 15% miss on ranged)
EmptySkull
I use this.
[skill]Glyph of lesser energy[/skill][skill]Searing Flames[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]leech signet[/skill][skill]fire attunement[/skill][skill]aura of restoration[/skill][skill]mantra of frost[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
OgVDMoysOID62YtHgLoFIABA
Fire magic 12 Energy storage 10 Inspiration magic 8 (+whatever runes you have)
I'm a ele so I bring 2 more ele hero's and a healer monk hero. But you can bring 3 ele's and do whatever as a paragon and keep them alive easily.

I would drop the glyph for another aoe damage skill, maybe [wiki]Rodgort's Invocation[/wiki] or [wiki]Liquid Flame[/wiki]. With the mantra, energy management isn't going to be an issue.

Yeah you could add [wiki]Rodgort's Invocation[/wiki] or [wiki]Liquid Flame[/wiki] for hardmode. But in NM they go down faster than [insert funny sexual inuendo here ], so really you only need [skill=text]searing flames[/skill].
Really to make sure the hero is spamming [skill=text]searing flames[/skill] just bring:
[skill]searing flames[/skill][skill]fire attunement[/skill][skill]mantra of frost[/skill][skill]aura of restoration[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]
That is probably the best skill bar for a hero in that dungeon for NM lol.
edit: Actually thinking about it. I remember why I chose to take [wiki]glyph of lesser energy[/wiki] instead of [wiki]Rodgort's Invocation[/wiki] or [wiki]Liquid Flame[/wiki]. During the time it takes to cast [wiki]Rodgort's Invocation[/wiki] and recharge, you could cast [skill=text]searing flames[/skill] 2 times. 2 times the damage. + 2 times the length of burning. With [wiki]Liquid Flame[/wiki] it's even worse 16 total seconds for that skill I got searing flames casted 5 times in that period. And that's a whole lot more damage. So yeah I will stick with my original build for HM in my first post.
O and BTW Did anyone notice how [wiki]Rodgort's Invocation[/wiki] is wrong. It shows an old 15 sec recharge instead of 5 seconds?

The casting time is also wrong - it is a 2s casting time, which means you can cast it while SF is recharging. From experience my heroes seem to do more damage with Rodgort's + SF than with SF alone, as long as you have some way to mitigate the energy cost.
I rarely do the run in NM anymore, but really any build with a collection of AoE skills and a little healing would work, I imagine.

Zena Starlight
So should you be using 3 SF eles for NM?

Me SF plus 3 SF's always find ourselves overwhelmed in HM, with cynn, two monks, and herta.

Don't fool yourselves.
Savannah Heat + Tenai's Heat + Searing Heat + Breath of Fire + Firestorm WORKS BEST.
Why? Because Snowman hardly move under AOE. This works for HM like a charm.

Try bringing some party wide protection, if your going with another person defensive anthem paragon or 2 chars with aegis chain can be quite helpful. Aegis should block snowballs because I know from personal experience defensive anthem does.
You could always bring 2 e/mo mindblast+rodgorts since the energy is never an issue you could bring aegis on 2 of them.

Savannah Heat and a few more AOE fire skills is all you need + some protection

It is not possible to block the snowballs that matter as those are spells and of a interesting note they are non water dmg since mantra of frost will not trigger on the spell. It is also interesting that their actual wand attacks are water dmg and stormchaser does trigger on their spell attack as elemental just not as water. I haven't spent the time yet to check which element the spell attack is exactly but it could be tested easily with the mantras of X element.

Sab's build too works pretty fine here

Please, your not the first one to doubt me. Go try it before you say you can't block them. The snowballs are the same skills as wintersday snowball fights. In those fights you get an enchant which blocks projectiles. Thus the same mechanic works in the snowman dungeon.
So if you want a good 50% block reduction you could try aegis (unsure about aegis but know defensive anthem elite works through personal testing).

Does the Ebon Vanguard skill [wiki]Winds[/wiki] block them?
Also [skill]Maelstrom[/skill] FTW

You could try the skill and see. The only one I have been able to confirm is defensive anthem (was quite easy just by watching all the snowballs come and health not dropping as fast).
So if someone else would like to try winds and aegis they can feel free to try.

I tried winds and I think it works. Hard to confirm it though.
