This quest is too hard. I've tried so many times, but everytime I do, the destroyers completely.....well.....destroy me. What's a good henchie combo and some tips with this mission, because I don't like using heroes that much. Thnx.

Hmm.. I honestly have to say that with the right setup this is one of the easiest quests to do in HM or NM.
heroes are important for this mission because they let you divide your party up in 2 groups. I have no idea why you dont like using them.
You need to remember to flag your heroes properly. Bring an MM hero, a healer hero and a damage caster (SS, Rit, Ele... whatever works for you). Flag your heroes to defend the kiln on the left, defend the on the right with your henchies. I used monk and caster henchies.... warrior heroes and henchies just aren't any good for me.
The 3 necro team works particularly well for this but it isnt necessary. I know I didnt use it the first time I did that quest.
After youve defended the kilns its just a matter of regrouping, summoning golems and mopping up.

this quest is easy..if you doing it with your heros and henchies use 2 monks and vekk (air) then flag the rest of your henchies (2 monks and 2 dmg dealers) for the eastern golem. then when their both finish heating up just drop the asura icon and get the 2 golems that follow you and pull a destroyer group 1 by 1.
edit: i love this quest cuz its easy and on of the fastest repeatable ones for your heros handbook.

This quest is very easy if you do NOT split your group but take one warrior with [skill]"Charge!"[/skill]. Keep running from one side to the other killing the destroyers here and there. Also taking a minion master hero obviously makes it alot easier.
Once the golems are ready do not forget to take 2 golems to help you . Between them and your group you will rock the destroyers.

I've done this several times (for HM books) and a split seems to defo be the easiest way of doing so. Just takes a bit of organisation, beats yo-yo'ing from side to side.
My advice is find a guildie or other human player willing to help you with the mission. Set up a dedicated split, a Warrior/Derv, an Ele, A SS Necro and a Monk (or something similar to that set up) for each side. Wait at the bottom of the bridge until the GOLEM is finished then its easy peas from here, just go and clear the rest of the destroyers.

Note: You need to use heroes on this mission, using hench along WILL NOT CUT IT. Since you need to split. They don't even need to be setup or anything, just give them some skills. But you do need heroes.
Here how I managed it - this works for both NM and HM:
You need the following heroes:
- One Healing Monk
- One MM Necro
- Other (Blind Surge or Nuker should do)
For the hench take:
1 Healer
The Earth ele
Two warriors
Now start the mission but DO NOT speak to the NPC to start the assault. Instead head over the right hand bridge and kill ALL of the Destroyers you can see, all the way up to the Destroyer Hive (The Burning thing).
These Destroyers form part of the assault, and killing them before hand makes the whole thing a hell lot easier.
Now head to near the Golems and the NPCs and split your team. Order you henchmen to hold the right hand side, while you and your 3 heroes hold the left. Speak to the NPC to start the assault.
Since you killed the standing Destroyers before hand the number that attack during the assault is a lot less. Your henchmen should do fine, and your side should also once your MM Necro hero has a few minions up.
If found if any side is in trouble, simply remove the flags for whichever side is fine so you can go help the other side if need be.
The Golems themselves during the Warm up stage can take a slight amount of damage before needed to be saved, even in HM (Of course a lot less in HM). I found you have about 10-20 secs messing around time before you need to go and save one or the other.
That should work fine. Once the assault is over its a simply matter of heading to the Hive and killing the 3 bosses to end the mission.
In HM make sure to be extra careful when attack Destroyer Ranger groups, since the Destroyer of Hordes use Barrage which does massive amounts of damage to group up parties.
Which sadly tends to be the case when using H+H

Good post
Slightly Off-Topic: Do you think that method would be faster than splitting?

Pandora's box
I used RTSFirebat's method (killing the groups of Destroyers in the field first, before talking to the NPC who starts the mission) but without splitting. Since there will only be 4 or 5 new groups popping up on both sites its easy to run between the 2 spots.

With full human team or even an a single extra player the going out to kill the Destroyers first is not necessary since it should be easier with human players.
I think my method takes slightly longer, but has a much greater chance of success.

Miss Puddles
i run as a BHA ranger and take a healer, damage dealer, and warrior on each side. flag half of them on one side and you take the other. easy stuff.
Eldin
I was able to beat it on Normal Mode with just heroes and henchies, no special builds.
Go over to whichever Golem kiln is being attacked, kill the destroyers. Mind that Gadd and Oola each guard one of them, so while you fight destroyers on one side, chances are some will head to the other kiln. However, Gadd/Oola will hold them off for a short while, you can just rush the whole party over there then.
Mind you can also heal the golem kilns. If you're not a monk, bring a monk hero to put prots or something on the kilns.
The second part isn't too bad, just pace yourself and make use of the golems.

Theoretically you should drop a bunch of Ritualist spirits on one end and run to the other. This would (again, in theory) distract the Destroyers for 4, possibly 5 seconds...more than enough time to run back.
Seriously, though, I usually just run back and forth. Bring Charge and you should be fine.

Take a monk, as well as SS and SV necros. Flag them at one side and the hench on the other side. Go between sides helping whichever needs it, and that's basically it.
I've done it every time, and it works. Hell, I did it a couple of hours ago, actually...

call me monk
I found this Quest possibly one of the easyiest but yes do need the correct set up other wise it will be epic fail to you

What the hell. I found this very easy (but i have done this only NM). I just took my normal setup:
Me - SS necromancer
Dunkoro - Pure Healer (WoH)
Tahlkora - Pure Protection
Olias - Minion master
Fire ele
Earth ele
Warrior (not devona, the other, guardian w/e)
Illusion henchemen
I took the other spot with Dunkoro and others I flagged to second spot. Done it easily. I "tanked" the destroyers using Mental Block, throwed some nice AoE-weakness and just SSed them down. No problems.

I never split on this mission and the group setup isnt that important so long as I have an MM hero. I just run to and fro between the two golems. Who cares if Gadd or Oola die? [Actually I prefer Gadd dead so he doesnt cast Iron Mist on stuff] The golems themselves can take some beating. I never had any problems with this setup and the mission was not even challenging.
KIDGOOCH
I didn't read everyones reply but if you are still having problems, the easiest way is to remove the majority of the destroyers by killing them before you "start" quest. When you enter the area you see the * where Gadd is DON'T go there, instead cross the bridge on the right hand side and kill everything you see (you can also map this area this way, there is nothing there except the groups of destroyers) after killing everything you can find, go back to Gadd to start mission. Now, mission will consist of 3 -4 groups (for each golem) of 2 destroyers each which should be managable, the as soon as Golem are ready deploy immediatley on the spot to assist and go after the remaining destroyers which by this point should be around 6 -10.
crazybanshee
I never even thought to go out in the field and kill the destroyers before starting the quest lol. I've done it multiple times in HM to fill up books, I don't split either. I go with
Me as air ele
Sab's 3 necro hero builds
Devona, Talon, Mhenlo, and Zho henches
I just run back and forth. I never thought to bring a speed skill, but really once you get the hang of it, you know exactly when to head over to the other side to keep both sides alive. Your monks will heal the golems, and if you think about it you can bring blind to take the edge off the barrage ranger destroyers. After that its smooth sailing, just go slow and clear out the destroyers, and don't forget to call the golems for help.

Yup, Sab's build, Mhenlo, Zho, Fire and Earth eles for me. Running back and forth with no problems at all. Easiest quest in HM, imo.

But that is what I used also, put the three necros to one side, me (warrior) monk ranger mesmer henchie went to the other and I never had to go check on my heroes. When I was done with the first wave, turned off the flags, went and easily wiped the guys on the hill, mission done (and that was in HM).
DarklingKiller
On HM, I brought along a bonder because I was too lazy to charge back and forth on each side. With a bonder, I was able to walk back and forth from each side easily keeping the kilns from dying. An MM certainly helps a lot as it helps prevent the kilns from being hit. Also, I suggest you bring a lightning damage weapon as Gadd casts a very annoying hex which prevents the target from taking damage except from lightning.
