Chances are, if they would have done the sixth hat, they wouldn't have effed it up so bad on killing the original design. Plus, that's more like a Dwayna hat, so they would have had to come up with something for Grenth, and a wreath of candles wasn't gonna cut it, I don't think.
I like the first one that Nian did, not the one that ANet threw together.
Because I thought this thread was about the festival hats in general, I'll throw in my two cents on that. Dragon Mask = Best. Tengu Mask = Worst, simply because of it's extremely limited ability to obtain. If it had been a public thing, it'd be one of the better ones.

I agree with you on the dragon hat. It's the best one by far. The tengu isn't bad, but not as good as the dragon.

Tengu mask is my favourite (too bad I never got one) followed by Dragon Mask, Wicked Hat and Wreath Crown (even though it only looks good on some female characters). Ice Crown (aNet version) is my least favourite followed closely by the Halloween 2007 masks.

Players designed the Grenth Helm only, not both.

I can't decide on which of those lovely entries I prefer. I wish they all could have been implemented or I hope they at least can be in the future. I had already been thinking on which characters would wear a certain hat. I've read lots of complaints on this years hats, but I like them. Personally I'm glad that I don't look bald when I wear them! I would have liked the original concept Nian had made, but I don't mind the alterations that were done, like the iron bullet thingy around the crown instead of fluff, just because I like that certain 'edgy' quality that it lends to the piece.
I would have loved a tengu mask, it's the only one I've missed. : (

But in all seriousousness, I was out of town for the finale, and was so disappointed cause I thought they were going to implement #4 or at least make the hats really good for this one, I come back to find that the hats were extended, but there're really so bad, im still wearing my 05 yule cap not even bothering to get them lol

Great horns of Grenth and the Dragon Mask are my faves. I didnt like either of the hats they gave us for this years Wintersday (I did like the entry)
What I would love for them to do but it will never happen is for them to add in a "Expert Festival Hat Crafter" One that would take your festival hat and turn it into a max AL att +1 helm for whatever class that had it crafted.

And I don't really hate any of them. Though I fail to see the fuss over the Dragon mask, beyond the fact it's a dragon.. Was never much a fan of the horns either.

Snowman Hat from last year and Wicked hat tie for my favorite. (Though if the wicked hat would show hair, like it should, it would be my top favorite.)
Not sure what my least favorite would be, but if I had to choose something it'd be the mummy mask since it looked half-assed imo and I had my hopes up for a completely different hat for this years Halloween.

I think Sixth place was the best hat of all.
Second place had to be the Ice Crown, though the in-game adaptation phailz on so many levels.
Fourth Place has to be third best, although I wish I knew what it was, exactly...an ice trail thing coming out of a cloak hood thing...

Perhaps we could ask ANet if maybe next year/next hat/next time they run a contest....
Instead of ANet picking, they would have players vote. Simple enough to drop a survey on the GW site and get fan feedback. In fact, now that I think about it...if they fan-feedback for GW2 it could be really interesting.
