depends... on my first try I got to 110k, and died from the rit boss (spirit rift-canthan noob island), back before it was fixed....I still have her and was a bit miffed for a bit. On my second one, my hubby got me killed off by over aggroing I didnt play with him for a few days, took the character to another area and left her there for a few months (she was level 19 and only needed a few thousand more). Third try made it to level 13 and died at the battle of tsumei village . 4th try---made it to level 1 5th and 6th tries made it to level 1 and are still working on level 2 (I dont use scrolls etc...just kill things....)...one of them I dont really care about since she made it to the first level, the other I would be severely pissed if she dies since I am killing the wurms outside of boreal for her points (will take her quite some time to get to level 3 that way ).

I was happy I finally got a character to level 1, now I am working on getting on to level 2 and 3.

Well, usually when I lose one, I'll just sit there for a couple of seconds, maybe utter a four letter word once or twice, and then move everything off, and start the character again. If the character is more than a couple of months old, I'll let them sit there until 1 year, and get the birthday present and then reroll it.

I lost survivor on my dervish a couple of days ago. My client froze while doing dwarven boxing on hard mode. I had just clicked on something to attack it when it happened. I would have been fine if it had have happened one second before.

I just kept the char and tried survivor on another class.

I made three survivor attempts:

Ritualist: Died level 6-8 on Shing Jea to Kai Ying and friends. A friend was the monk. Lesson learned: Play only with Heroes and Henchies. Was not too angry. Kept her because of her big bosom. RANK: ZERO

Mesmer: Made Survivor rank 1. Then I did the 15 attrib point quest in Zen Daijun and forgot to take a rez with me. Was the last man standing after a mistake. I was too lazy to do that again and embraced death. I thought legendary survivor to be MADNESS in that days. RANK: Survivor

Paragon: Started, played to undomitable. 3 months break. I made a male paragon, he is sooo gay, and somehow spear chucking does not give me the slightest hint of an adrenaline rush like a warrior trashing mobs with an axe does!!! Then they added the Sunspear skills, which made it easier to complete the title track. RANK:LEGENDARY Survivor

The lesson I learnt after I became legendary survivor: It was totally not worth it. Everything after rank 1 was just GRIND.
I wonder what I have would done if I died at 99% of Legendary Survivor.

The only time I have lost survivor is right after I get lvl 3, and I lost it on purpose to keep 1337 xp, so I guess I don't really do anything when I lose survivor.

I tried legendary survivor 3 times with my rit, died once at 180k xp, sin boss spawned and owned me at kaineng. Deleted, recreated, died at 300k lol (arborstone ftl). Deleted, remade, farmed a lot till 650k xp, then I got bored went to do missions, forgot to change my 600hp armor (15 armor each piece) and met with a star burst ele boss @ tahnnakai temple... 700 dmg ftw, instant-death. I felt a bit silly coz I died coz of my stupid mistake.
With my ranger I died when I tried to farm with my own build in HM xD (right after survivor lvl 1).

Whenever I lose out on a major grinding achievement like that, I stop.

Close Guild Wars.

Look over the software and hardware on my computer. Add the combined values. Convert to GW gold (at the current gold selling rate of 1 million gold to $89 american). Learn once more that it is worth more than any GW grinding addict with their crystallines and their FoW and what-have-you will ever attain. The anger leaves and I sit back in satisfaction, knowing that I have achieved more in real life than they ever will, and that it's just a game. I never again bother with Survivor. I then go have something to eat.

Heh. My sin died on 1,336,268 or something. Died whilst trying to get it on exactly 1,337,500. xD. I laughed and started over. Was only like 40 runs of punchout tournaments, ~15 hours old char.
I pitty those who die after spending hundreds of k on cap sigs and capping skills :s.

I got my first legendary doing punchout, felt kinda lame to did a rit normally.

Was all good, half way to indomitable, no lag in sight at all.

Went to ascend in prophecies, running the last crystal back to the ghostly and suddnely a huge lag spike. Char stuck for ~15 seconds, during which time i somehow managed to flag all my hench away...

And a guildie had offered to come monk for me

I'll maybe delete it when i get insanely bored and fancy something to do, in the meantime find out if i like rits in pve or not.

I hastily delete the character so it is forgotten

I keep trying though as I can get to about level 16 - 18 but this time I am trying again I will take it just a little easy when I reach close to and around those levels.

Feel good? Hooray for you both. Enjoy your FTW.

ON TOPIC:

I have only one survivor, my rit. Have died 3 times before being successful at my fourth. Worst was when my second attempt I died with needing only some +200K. When third attempt failed I almost give up. But my sheer desire to get the title for the character I like most, I made fourth and have to do it for a month.

Im trying to get my Paragon an LS3 title now that there are easier way to get the title. But my heart is not really on it, so he's stuck in LS1.

Good Luck all to your quest. But the experience on my Rit will last me long enough until GW2.

Currently only My Dervish [Theo Godscythe] has R3 Survivor so am putting all my time into him...the toughest part was capping elites from Elementalist Bosses (God I hate spikes)...but I hear that now u can get the title in just 1 or 2 days doing Irontoe Farming.

Anyway you die, you restart, you get over it...

...if you really want something you'll go the extra mile to get it...

P.S. BE VERY CAREFUL a Dervish with Earth Prayers and Avatar of Balthazar can get killed very quickly, imagine how fast casters can die.

No doubt it can really sting, especially if you're working at it through the course of a campaign(s). You just have to suck it up and reroll.

I don't know how anyone could find real satisfaction in reaching LS that way.

a long time ago i had a very fun to play character which was just plain lucky and was not killed.

the higher the level i got i found it was less and less fun to play as i was getting more and more careful with it.

ran it into the next mob at level 18 without armor .

and suddenly she was fun to play again and gets a 2nd bday present in less than a month (23+ months)

since then any new character gets that 1st death first thing so i dont have to worry about it.

i play for fun not to impress anybody

I tried 5 times with my Rit for Survivor, finally got it (nearly every quest on Shing Jea with Henchies, yay). Then she got chumped by double-aggro Jade Brotherhood in Xaquang.

Every time I lose a Survivor, my heart skips a beat while I contemplate all the work lost. Granted I played my Rit through to the completion of Factions (now Protector of Cantha and all 15 Factions Rit elites).

Then there was my Ele. Level 12, doing great at Nolani Academy. Call me a needless romantic, but I like doing the early missions with PUGs. Big mistake on the bonus. The monk didn't know just how bad the Spirits of the Fallen mob up, and suicided the entire team quite successfully. I was flaming angry at this monk, cussed him out, then deleted and rerolled. Feels really boring doing the same starter area quests the second time in a month with essentially the same character.

Actually for this title I play through the game doing it. Doing runs in safe areas for experience pts only cheapens the title and if you die just start over. Myself I did it with the paragon and it's a great class to try it with. Good armor rating and your not a primary target. You'll have to build up your heroes as you go but it makes the title more worth while and fun then farming. If you farmed experience for it in my opinion you didn't earn it.
