The title summarises two sentences of an article I'd like to discuss:

Quote:
the online gaming world is very competitive and most of us have a mercenary approach to playing. Our number one priority is ourselves, and any friends we make will have to indirectly benefit that. This means they need to be of the same level as us, have the same play schedule (you wouldn’t want them outleveling you, would you?), and be competent. No one likes a friend who aggros the whelps.
This is clearly something I've experienced in my very light and short PvP experiences (it's not easy coming from PvE, but I'm trying to read as much as possible). But on the other hand, Costume Brawl gave me some hopes that a competitive but not aggressive PvP was possible.

At the other end of the spectrum, I think we can find awesome and nice collaborations such as the one where LOTR players create music (a feature that the game enabled via high-quality music instrument sounds):

So between digital creativity (and sensibility) and gaming competitivity, where does GW stand? And the other MMO communities? How do we inspire more creation and cooperation? How do we make the competitive aspect of the game less aggressive?

Ideas, thoughts, argumented or not, are all welcome!
