Dunkoro/Tahlkora secondary?
Absolute Destiny
Been picking secondary professions for my heroes today, and I was wondering what good choices would be for Dunkoro and Tahlkora, given that I've kept them at their original orientations (healing and protection, respectively)?
Remexx
I usually choose Rt or Me, there are some decent healing spells in the Rt class, including ashes. With Me, you can use energy signets to steal precious energy back.

I'm not an expert at heroes or monks in general, but most secondary's can contribute something to a monk. The most important things you need are self defense and energy management.
Assassins have a good defensive stance in [skill]Dark Escape[/skill]
and [skill]Smoke Powder Defense[/skill]
Elementalist has [skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill] Make sure you have skills that cost more then 5 energy though; this would probably be more effective on the protection monk.
Mesmer's have [skill]Channeling[/skill] and [skill]Inspired Hex[/skill]
They also have two useful interupts that also function as e-management, however you must put the hero on "guard" behavior for them to work. They are [skill]Power Drain[/skill] and [skill]Leech Signet[/skill]
Warrior also has several good self defense stances in the tactics line, most notably [skill]Disciplined Stance[/skill] and [skill]Frenzied Defense[/skill]
Hope this helps

Completely depends on the build. I often run only Monk spells on my Monk or my heroes. In this case, a secondary does nothing, and any will work. However, if I run a high energy build with skills like Aegis or Heal Party, I may run Mo/W for the glyph. If I need some energy help, I may run Mo/Me for skills like Inspired/Revealed Hex, Channeling, or the elite Mantra of Recall. Mesmer also offers some hex removal skills (like the above mentioned Inspired/Revealed Hex).
Normally, I don't give my Monk heroes a secondary, as I can get by just fine with Monk skills alone.

Squishy ftw
/E for [skill]glyph of lesser energy[/skill]
/Me for any of those mantras (flame, frost, ..) or hex removal (inspired/revealed)
That's pretty much it for me.

yeah whats been said pretty much.....however, when I got tahlkora first I made her a mm (since I didnt have one until olias was obtainable many quests/missions later) so many of my tahlkoras are mo/n--but they dont use the /n any longer. Most of mine are either /me or /rit while I do have a few /p for the shouts.
Smile Like Umean It
Generally I got with /Me. Good for interrupts, energy management and hex removal.
Sometimes I go with /E for GoLE.

One more thing, protection monk heroes are generally not that good and a hybrid would be much better.

I usually set them as /Me for Channeling (I play a melee character) and Signet of Recall (they use this very well)

[skill]Healer's Boon[/skill][skill]Ethereal Light[/skill][skill]Dwayna's Kiss[/skill][skill]Orison of Healing[/skill][skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][wiki]Cure Hex[/wiki][skill]Healing Seed[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]
Now, he gets 15 Healing Prayers, 14 Divine Favor, and 4 Protection Prayers. I hate Dunkoro, because he makes my healing look like crap (AI is too fast - lol). Now, for Tahlkora, I vary her build a lot, depending on what I face, but typically it is this, with the elite changing.
[skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Aegis[/skill][skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill][skill]Watchful Healing[/skill]
Now, you will notice an elite is missing, as is one other skill. The last skill varies based on the elite I use. Usually its [skill]Remove Hex[/skill] or [skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill]. Elites I use for her are:
[skill]Divert Hexes[/skill][skill]Restore Condition[/skill][skill]Blessed Light[/skill]
I'd rather take a Healer who HEALs very well, and a Protector who PROTECTs very well. Hybrids work, but why hybrid in a place you have 2 Monks anyway? I only run a hybrid in areas with 4 or 6 player parties.

You guys are getting off topic...
Although the question got answered at least.

You choose the secondary profession for energy management among other things. Take elementalist for Glyph of Lesser Energy. Mesmer is pretty good, too.
Don't put [skill]Frenzied Defense[/skill] on your monk heroes.

I usually do mes just for an interrupt or some energy-related whatchamahoosit.
'Tis my traditional secondary on casters, aside from /Mo.

Anyway, to the OP. No matter what you pick, the basics of any hero is for most skills, they are going to spam it upon recharge. Tactics wise, if they are on avoid combat, they will kite better than a lot of human monks who will sit there and take it, sadly enough.
[skill]Signet of Devotion[/skill]
[skill]Signet of Rejuvenation[/skill]
The above two are free. Yes, they can be interrupted, but hero monks spam so much and I doubt you'll be paying attention enough to notice.

I definitely notice a difference when I have all 3 heroes equipped with a couple interrupts as well as one of the henchies. So almost be default all my heroes go /Me unless there's a really pressing need for them to use those skill slots in some other way.
