So, if I am holding ashes and cast another item spell, it will drop my current ashes first and then hold the new one. So, if you have a 40% set on, will the logic go as follows:
1) Drop old ashes
2) Apply modifier (hct/hsr/+1)
3) Finish cast and hold new item
or
1) Apply modifier (hct/hsr/+1)
2) Drop ashes
3) Finish cast and hold new item
I'm thinking its the second, but today I got a half recharge on grasping when I had ashes in my hand (had a 20% recharge on my weapon slot)...

No, It will go
1) Cast Ash
2) Drops
3) Have new Ash
So you wouldn't get that 40% thing applied

I guess that if you manually drop your old ashes before casting the new ones, you have the HCT/HSR chance.
Turbobusa
but can you?

Correct sequence is:
You cast spell
New ashes appear
You drop old ashes.
I.E. recasting Generous Was Tsungrai will give you sacrifice from new ashes first, THEN you get healed by dropping old ashes.
Its weird, but it works that way, as evident that recasting Tsungrai wont leave you with 90% health.
