Problem:
Hall of heroes, the last heroe's ascent map, is a 1vs1vs1 map with 3 game modes. I'm here to state that all those modes have a deep problem, that i will name "ganking". Fondamentally ganking means that the most losing team (call it team C) of the 3 can easily, too easily, choose the winning team between the first 2 (call them A and B).
Game Mode 1
"Capture the Relic is the Guild Wars version of the capture the flag type of PvP game. It is featured in the Global Tournament. Each team, on their own side of the map, has a Ghostly Hero (who will not move or follow players), a relic, and resurrection shrine. The goal of the game is to pick up the enemy's relic and take it back to your own Ghostly Hero to score points while preventing the enemy from doing the same. Players and Ghostly Heroes respawn every two minutes. Capture the relic maps have a ten minute time limit. The last team to capture a relic will have a star next to their score."
Here the ganking occur around 1 minute from the end. If a team is losing by 2 or more point (call it team C), that team just select one among A and B and gank it. With 2 team on you, even if they are the most noob in the world, you lose.
Game Mode 2
"In King of the hill, also called altar battles matches two or three teams fight for control of the hill. The hill is a circular altar at the center of the map. The winning objective is to hold the center when time runs out after 4 minutes.
To capture the altar, lead the Ghostly Hero there. He will use a skill called Claim Resource to capture the altar. The altar can not be captured while an enemy Ghostly hero that holds it is still alive."
Same as before. usually at 4-3 minutes from the end, and almost never after 2, one team is clearly losing. Some fair play teams just resign, the majority just gank one of the others.
Game mode 3
"Capture Points is a battle on certain maps of the Global Tournament that consists of either several points that can be captured on the map. The capturing method is the same as Alliance Battles, in that you must have more of your own than there are of the enemy to capture the point. When capturing shrines, remember that the Ghostly Hero counts as four players so a common strategy is send one player off the with him to expedite capping."
Super easy. If you're down 5 points, you lost, go in one of the other team bases and shout in chat "red cap our base". It's done, you ganked.

Recap of the problem.
The wrost team can easly decide who will be the winner among the other two. This problem is due to the fact that the average gw player doesn't play fair. Our players prefer to make another team lose 'cause they think that build is lame or cause they beat them in underworld yesterday.
-----
Why it's annoying:
Alliances always gank the third team.
The best team not always win.
It gives way to lot of insults and bad behaviour in game.
It makes ppl angry, it's a game, i see enough injustice in the real world, i would like to see some fairplay here, if nowhere else, and i would like to see it enforced bacause it's obvious we won't see it in other ways.

Solution.
A full solution would be to change the whole halls thing. I would really like a quick 1vs1 hoh, maybe with multiple modes. But we all understand that gw made your money and we are not going to see big improvement. so i propose a quick solution. Just kick out of the game any team that can be reasonably considered a loser. In king of the hill for example, a team make at most one point every 30 seconds. If you're down 4 point at 1:59, why should you stay? The game should just kick you. Same for the capture points, let's say you can have on average 2 points every 30 secs (it could be more, could be 4, but it's impossible to get four and impossible to get 3 if another team isn't collaborating), if a team is down 6 points at 3 minuts, kick it out. Relic run? You can take one relic every 25 secs on average, if a team is too much down, it has lost. It's not difficul to implement developers, isn't it?

My english is poor and probably some concepts are not well explained. Feedback, questions and suggestions are well accepted.

If you can't deal with competition get out of HA

i agree its a problem, sometimes ganks come from prior matches and grudges where the losing team was able to skip back into HoH and have revenge on their team, sometimes a team ganks u and u feel the need to gank back in the next meeting, but what are u going to do? thats human nature

I think it's called playing the spoiler in the sports world and it's a perfectly valid way of acting if you ask me.

Dont play lame builds and dont make enemies.

It happens.
Three teams playing, someone is bound to get ganked.

Playing spoiler is what people do, if your not going to win, neither is your enemy. Ya ever leave the house and watch sports? If an NFL team is 0-12 they don't get kicked out of the rest of the seaon becuase they can't make the playoffs, they go out and try to play spoiler with the mentality that "If we are not making the playoffs, neither are the last 4 teams we face."
Sab, you got a winner here.

This is very unfair, because the team that wins is not always the better team. If anyone on Team C is friends with anyone on Team B, and Team C is down, they will always make a last stand and try to gank Team A, and 2v1, even if Team C is very crippled, it will be very hard for Team A to win, even if they are better than Team B, because, 16v8 is just too much pressure.

The altar holding one could work, but other ones have to be definitive to kick (like being down 9+ points with less than one minute left). HA was poorly designed from the start, and it'll be hard to fix. |
Ha was badly designed but it changed a lot over the course of the years. Think the improvement we had since the 6 team all vs all map
