The Naga may be in GW2!
KalleDamos
I remember that it said somewhere that the Naga, tengu and all other non-humans in cantha were forced to leave or something. We may be looking at the Naga as a playable race. They even worship the same gods we do. Ssuns, Blessed of Dwayna for example.
Eldin
I thought the evil dictator emperor just started genocide on all the other races?
I forget.
A shame. Factions had a cruddy story, but it had some of the most beautiful places.

Naga won't be a playable race... it may be added as monsters just like some other monsters

Usoku will have done the right thing banishing those not so peaceful races from Cantha and beating the Luxons and Kurzicks into submission.
The way Kisu let things crumble to dust with the Jade Bros and Ahm Fah and the Afflicted taking over Kaineng City, not to mention the continuing bloodshed between the Luxons and Kurzicks, about time someone did something about all this mess :P

Yeah i think the Naga are a race that could be playable in GW2. They have a pretty good backstory aswell (Their hatred for Humans having been the Jade Wind which they blamed the Humans of Cantha for) and with the Emperors stance towards non humans i can see a good story for them. I cant really think of another race on Cantha except for the Tengu that would make sense as playable.
jimmyboveto
I would love that. In fact, I think the creatures and races from factions are the coolest our of any of the guild wars. I would seriously play Naga or tengu before playing a human.
DarkFlame
Will they appear, possible. Will they be a playable race, not likely. Anet has already announced the races and Nagas aren't one of them. Even if they do add more races, there are far more interesting races to add then the Nagas, like the Forgotten.
Winterclaw
My question is will they be worth playing even if they are in? I'm not playing as many chars in GW2 if I decide to get it... The rewards for the effort and my available time just aren't there.
So if they are in, why should I play one?

Dunno. ArenaNet will have to answer you that.

Hooray for starting rumors. I don't remember them saying anything about Naga being playable. Though they might be in it.

While naga could be a possible playable race it is just as possible that the "Deep Sea Dragon" recruits them, mutates them, and we have these 'uber naga' so to speak as underlings of one of these great dragons.

Races like that in guild wars have been around for awhile as most are ancient so i wouldn't be suprised if they kept living?
Although i would like to see some new races and not new evolutions on old ones such as they have done in other campaigns.

Hehe maybe add Dragon Raiders as a playable race to defeat the Ancient Dragons
Fangclaw
The only Factuions race I see that becomes playable in GW2 would be the Tengu.
But you are right, i suppose that it is possible that the Naga will be there too...

Although it is possible that the Naga may be in GW2, I would not count on it. Personally, only unmentioned races I care about would be Tengu, which I think has a much better chance at being in GW2, since they also live in Tyria, same goes for the Centaurs.
Avatara
Elona expansion for GW2 will bring us Centaurs as a playable race and the Canthan one will bring us Tengu... think about it... it's logical. After all GW2 core will only be Tyria.

1) we don't know that GW2 will be based on only the continent of tyria, it just says tyria, so it can be the world tyria, which would include cantha and elona. I think it will either be Tyria alone *including the EN areas and more*, or tyria and elona combined, seeing how Cantha is kinda far off the map, only way we would be able to get to them would be by killing both the undead dragon and Deep Sea dragon in the game.
2) Your claim that tengu and centaurs will be added with expansions for cantha/elona is not really logical, just like anything else, its just a guess, although if they do have it set up with elona and cantha being expansions, those two will probably be added with playable races, and if that is how anet plans to set gw2 up, then naga can also be playable with the "canthan expansion".

Naga is in Be Cool. I know coz i've been there.
But even if Naga is not in GW2, i will still buy it.
I want to see in GW2 a magic that can turn you into a stone (a Medusa type of monster). I don't know if there is that kind of race in GW:EN. But i like to see myself turned into a pillar of rock for few seconds

The Charr are now atheists and yet they will be in GW2. Maybe the Naga will be in GW4 so take heart!

"The history of Cantha and Elona, as we know it, ceases around the time of Orr's liberation from the sea. Little contact with these nations has made its way north to the Tyrian continent; the undead of Orr and the upheaval in the Crystal Desert made news scarce and difficult to acquire."
Conveniently taking them out of the running until the first expansion. It all fits way too nicely.

Why would anybody want to play as those disgusting Naga?
Forgotten would be cool if you want serpentine humanoids, but, I mean, have you looked a Naga in the face? Ugly buggers, those guys. A face only a mother could love.

Yeah, new dictator emperor started killing all the non human races.

Just like in Prophecy, the city of Ascalon was in the war against the Charr. So having the Canthan Empoeror destrying these nonhuman like creatures, such as the Naga, why not have the Naga have a similiar story like the Charr? Added with some Tengu too.
Sirius-NZ
"Drive out" is quite a bit different from "kill"... although only if they bite the bullet and actually flee. I don't know whether the Naga would do that, although hopefully they would at some point.
The Angchu Tengu would be pretty loathe to, but they seem somewhat more pragmatic and would probably leave Cantha if the situation became hopeless.
The Sensali would probably fight to the bitter end.

You have the Tengu, Dredge and Naga all in Cantha. All three of these stand a fair chance of being played due to the above article.
We all highly suspect that the Tengu will be a playable race.
We know of five. ANet has stated that these are the only ones announced, but there are some more they will not reveal until closer to the game.
