Ranger Profession

I have a lvl2 ranger and was gonna choose to have a monk as my secondary class. but i thought a little further and was wondering if yall can help me with that decision. hes a PvE char and i want him to make a good trapper and at the same time a good member in parties..

Eventually you can choose any secondary you want. Monk is a good secondary for rebirth. For trapping, you'll probably want Mesmer secondary for the echos. You might find times you'll want to go splinter barrage and then you'll want a Rit secondary. I like to go Paragon secondary sometimes for the shouts. And so on.

I like your guru name... what about the other half of "fish or cut bait"? You not into fishing? lol

Seconded for mesmer secondary if you want to trap. Actually, mesmer is a terrific secondary for many Ranger builds.

well trappers were good with mesmer secondarys...but my echo (elite) plus arcane echo, (echoing dust trap) got nerf'd...i'm not sure if there are other ways to use the mez secondary as they have nerf'd one of the spirits required in my build....theres probably other out there im sure, the other one i've seen required factions so your covered there...for an overall party helping build i recommend monk, mostly for keeping yourself alive...if your looking for an elite, barrage is always nice...though in prophecies its at iron mines, which is a mish that would be far away if your playing without alot of runs and just doing missions...hope this helps , pm me on guru or in game if you have questions!

Mesmer secondary isn't only for the echoes. There's also Mantra of Resolve if you absolutely, positively must trap on someone's toes. There's also Epidemic, Fevered Drerams or even Fragility to synergize with conditions. Using another trap would probably be better than those last thrree, however. Ether Signet can be used to offset the loss of EW to some degree, etc. Lots of options with /Me secondary.

Unfortunately, I make up most of my builds on the spot. I also don't like trapping much, except for solo-farming. The only trap template I have is the Echoed Dust Trap build that no longer works after the EW update.
