I came from Tyria & have just finished Factions with only 10/13 missions done. I was just wondering if there was any way to access the other 3 missions so I can get the Cantha Protector title.

You can get to Shing Jea Island by talking to the guy in Kaineng Docks I believe... I forgot his name. From there, you can run to the other 2 mission on there.
There's also a difference between the Luxon and Kurzick storyline, which means you'll have to complete them both in order to get your protector title.

I am guessing you went Kurzick... correct?
If so, you have to complete the there quests on the Luxons side. "Journey to Cavalon" and whatnot.

I ran to one of the mission spots and the gate was locked and I could not get in.

The three you're missing are almost certainly Minister Cho's Estate, Zen Daijun and one of either Eternal Grove or Gyala Hatchery.
To get to the first two you'll have to speak to a guy (i can't remember his name either) at Kaineng Docks just off the Marketplace. He'll let you get to Shing Jea Island. From there you'll have to run (or fight) to the mission outposts. There's no quest to get you to them.
For either Eternal Grove or Gyala Hatchery you'll have to follow the faction storyline which you haven't done yet. You start both lines from Jamei in that place north of pongmei valley (i'm crap with names today
).

You can now access those missions whenever you have the time. I am working on my Canthan Protector also, on yet another character and have had to go through this countless times. Gyala Hatchery is one of the three you are missing. I I am guessing you don't have Cavalon on your map either?

To get to Minister Cho's Estate just exit Shing Jea to the west and head north-east. You'll come to a build up bit with steps. Go up them and turn left when you can. The entrance is at the end of the corridor.

As said above, Minister Cho's and Zen Daijun are no problem (and very easy). To get the Gyala Hatchery mission, however, you have to go through the tedium of collecting 10,000 Luxon faction.

If you're going to try for protector on more than one toon, you might want to get them all up to Cavalon first, then gather the 10k faction. Since it doesn't take it away from you when you update the quest, you can use that single gathering of 10k to push your whole account through the quest without having to gather it all up again.
