Echo replacing triple chop
tonyh
Hello, some of you may recognize me as the person who should get factions and stop bothering everyone, but oh well.
I am not sure if this question has been asked before, but I don't think it would, seeing how everyone has factions. I got the idea from a farming thread I read a long time ago
Anyways, I was thinking, even though Echoing cyclone axe or whirlwind attack is clearly inferior to having triple chop, would it still be decent / work well? Or would it be so stupid that you will make a 1 word post with "lol"
Also, which would be a better idea to echo (cyclone or whirlwind)? assuming the idea isnt too stupid

Couldn't you just get like...Eviscerate or something?
I pwnd U
Yes the Idea is stupid but for your benifit it would be better to echo Whirlwind as it is +20dmg at r10 Sunspear and Cyclone is only around +13 dmg for 16 axe.
=DNC=Trucker
I think it would be ok (maybe), as long as you can get the spell off

I think Echo can be a legitimate alternative to Triple Chop in a solo-farming build if you do not have Factions. You'll definitely want to Echo Whirlwind so they could recharge each other. Apart from that use, I think it is a bad idea to use your elite for that instead of your other alternatives.

Use a sword. Hundred Blades.

Waste elite on bad skill? No thanks.

so lets say there exist 3 elites: 100 blades, evis, and echo. would echo be better than evis in a general non solo farm build?
MisterB
No, for general use, Eviscerate wins by a mile. There's no comparison with the other two.
The only reason Echoing Whirlwind would work for solo-farming in the first place is because there is nothing else for enemies to attack, so having 6 foes next to you is not that hard to achieve. This allows you to use Whirlwind every time you attack, which would actually increase your damage output beyond what you can do with Triple Chop.

the oly advantage i can see in this method is having 2 copied of whirlwind attack, with the right timing each one should recharge the other until mobs die. but triple chop is still better

They're talking about Whirlwind Attack, a Warrior Sunspear skill, not the Ele skill.

why do u think hundred blades is a bad elite?try it on heroes they use it better than dragon /
MisterB
Whether or not a hero uses an elite skill well doesn't prove whether it is good or bad. Also, compare Hundred Blades to Cyclone Axe, and ask yourself why Hundred Blades is elite. Striking twice is not an acceptable answer because of Sun and Moon Slash.

I'm fully aware of ANet's stated reason for making Hundred Blades an elite skill; I just don't consider that reason to be valid. Hundred Blades is trash, and needs an update to be worth the elite slot.
