BMP for sale

To be honest im not to bothered that they put it up for sale, i needed extra char slots and i bought bonus weapons for my heroes. After those it's kinda like getting the BMP for free and before a lot of other people.

I know some of you are miffed because you wanted to be special and have it all to yourselves to show off the end weapons to people who couldnt get it, but thats life i guess.

You really thought, they would never put it up for sale in the end? I think before gw2, they will put a lot more up for sale, even perhaps the CE dances, just to roll in the cash before they leave gw1 behind and start with gw2.

That is not the reason. Shuuda posted his suggestion just to show you what was plainly obvious. people thought the BMP was going to be utter tripe and didn't participate. Yet when the surprise set of weapons came along with it, we had 100000 unmerged topics do deal with. Anet caved in, and also made dough out of it. Clever thinking for short term...but bad in the longterm.

I think this is not a point of wasted $2-$5-$10 or $30... it is a matter of principal. ANEt is asking us to NEVER use exploits, never cheat, ban ppl for smallest infractions and themself made a huge misrepresentation and false advertisement and we have to let them go?? NO F WAY!! Only wanting the BMP for the weapons is not the case in my book, I have only played for two months, i thought it was silly that they werent just selling it. What I am seeing in this thread and the polar bear one, is a faction of people who are going to come on to the forums and be mad because other people are getting stuff A-net or whoever does not have to make or give us at all.....Here's an interesting way to think about it....what if A-net never made any peice of special content and what you got when you bought the game is what you got period? The point is they dont have to do anything for the players, but they do- and somehow at the same time that makes people angry? while trying to find an answer as to why that is, I keep coming around to the only motive that makes sense- jealousy, or some kind of weird reverse jealousy that comes from having something "exclusive" and then finding out it's not exclusive anymore and other people have the same stuff now....saw it two weeks ago with the whole polar bear mini freakout, and seeing it now with the BMP for sale decision.

And as for the decision being "bad in the longterm", no the decision will be mere trivia that hardly matters to most of us in a couple months. I dont care if you spent several hundred dollars buying somebody elses account to get BMP, you made that decision and no, you are not being ripped off because now you can just go buy BMP. Same idea for people who spent hundreds or thousands getting "guitar hero" this x-mas...are they going to feel ripped off when the buzz dies down and you can get the game for a normal price again?

Whatever happened to the old guildwars, where when prot bond was nerfed the complaining was kept to a minimum and anet never changed their stance (and never stopped persecuting the solo monks)?

Anyways, gj anet on helping those who didn't get it, next time theres a "special promotion" im just going to ignore it and rant and whine the day its over. But let me make this clear, I am excited for those who didn't have it before, its just bad publicity for GW2 imo.

For some it may not be the case but for others here I believe it is, you wouldn't see so much fuss over this stuff if it wasn't about elitism.....from my experience this kind of drama only happens in games that have "collectible" items in them (which other people fiend for because of the status) The other complaints about a handful of dollars, being told one thing and given another, or whatever else are pretty hard to buy into because this kind of stuff happens so frequently in the real world....and indeed happens over way more important issues.

They just need to get rid of that whole aspect of the game, and let people get back to playing the game for the sake of playing the game.

I don't know where people get the idea from that the "elitists" want to keep BMP to themselves and that people angry about this decision is being "jealous" and whatever other BS someone wants to come up with.

Anet's deal was to spend a certain amount of money to qualify for the BMP. Well, wtf must I buy? I have everything. There is nothing I need. ALL skills were unlocked. I had all CE's and chapters. All I could buy were char slots. $30 worth.
So, I spent the money 'cause BMP sounded nice and I thought I'd like it AND it was a limited offer (after all).

NOW, the GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOREDers come and sell the thing for 1/3 of the price. It pisses me off! I haven't even had time to play the darn BMP!

SO, what the hell was the rush to get people to buy it? In my country that is a lot of money. I could have bought it a lot cheaper in our local currency!

I work fracking hard for my money, don't come and fk with my money! If I had money to waste, I'd play WoW, or a few other pay-to-play MMO's.
When you say something ANet, mean it! I have nothing but DISrespect and DIStrust for ANet right now. I cannot believe them. I loathe them.

I overplayed, I dont know how anyone can get the r6 KOABD without smashing their head against their keyboard until they have by chance deleted their character or killed themself. The game is too dry and isnt going anywhere, dont get me wrong I loved it at one point but now with the games fanbase not so much losing numbers but becoming increasingly retarded and the same gameplay mechanics never changed its put me off Guild Wars and MMO's in general. Also I played the orange box and relised how games are suppoused to be designed and not just strung together with no direction except to look good with titles as an excuse for a real life sports car. Thats All.
I still read the forums thou incase anything amazing happens, this was entertaining to see all the ranters from the orginal threads get abit wound up but then I relised it doesnt matter, its a game.

I am in the same boat as you, minus one of my accounts. Not pleased about this complete 180 in policy. Unjustified... but alas, whiners always get what they want.

If enough people called for the removal of Prot Spirit, it would either be removed from the game, or nerfed into oblivion. Tis the way of things. QQ = Woohoo!

The two or three people who actually care about the lore, anyway. :P Funny how when it was advertised as expansions on the Guild Wars storyline in general, people dismissed it. Then when the weapon skins were released, everyone went apeshit. :P

I agree it's not really worth $10; it's completely uncustomizable minus the mods YOU have to get and put on the weapons, and I'm glad I got it as a bonus bundle. I'm still annoyed by how poorly it was handled all around, and I wish they'd just come forward and told us explicity how the deal was going to work in the first place. A simple "Get it now as a bundle, or wait until after Christmas and pay separately" would have been just fine. No physical boxes necessary. I'd have bought it, though not right away since I was in a financial crunch when the bonus was being offered, and had no hard feelings. Now no matter what ANet does, someone's gonna be angry.

I don't think this is really true. Some people did have valid arguments for the BMP. A lot of people reserved Eye of North through third parties to get access to Sneak Peek Weekend. Those that didn't purchase from GuildWars online store couldn't have access to BMP unless they spent an additional $30 on their online store.

So, those that were desperate to have the BMP gave up money and bought character slots. A lot of character slots apparently. Many people who had already forked money over for Eye through (Amazon, Gamestop, Bestbuy, etc...) began to complain that it is unfair to force them to purchase character slots just to access the BMP. Many of those REFUSED to pay the addition money and began to petition Anet. It worked and Anet is releasing a purchasable version of BMP.

In short, Anet is forcing people to buy from them directly. While this is a sound business plan for them, because they get 100% of the profit be eliminating shelf rentals, they planned the release a bit weak and screwed a lot of people on both sides. They are trying to make things right and offer the BMP for short money, and I understand why people that paid $30 for character slots would be upset. However, no one told anyone to do that. I know that sounds harsh, but it is the truth. In addition to that, anet is a company. They need to make money to continue. You don't find it a bit selfish that the game you play all week for free online should "sometimes" cost money so they can continue to support your playing?

I continue to stand by Anet, even if they do not always make the best decisions. Cheer up, ppl. You play a great game.

As for anyone's livelihood. Anet is not the mafia. You were not required to hand them money. They didn't rob you of money. I paid 50+ dollars for Doom 3 and now it costs $19.99. I am not complaining about it. I loved the game and it was worth it at the time. I paid 50+ dollars for each of the campaigns and now they are no longer that price. I am not demanding a refund because that was the price then and it isn't now. That is basic business. There is a depreciation value in any market.

Remember when the NES was $199.99? I think I could pick one up on EBay for 10 bucks. lol...

If this is really bothering you, I suggest you petition Anet. Explain your distaste and ask for reparations. If enough do it, you will probably be awarded something in-game, thereby getting your value worth again. Personally, I don't care about money. I understand that things change. I am sorry so many people are upset over it. Again, I ask that you get your priorities straight.

This is a game. There are "real life" things that warrant your attentions much more.

If anyone did but could not get a straight answer from ArenaNet, then by default it's safe to say that they were not planning to put the BMP in the "Vault" (a la Disney's moratorium method). Don't just ass-ume.
