Someone tells me Paragons are poor damage dealers

So I'm a rit in RA as thats what I usually do in PvP in general is rit (love this class in pvp situations). Well I'm on a team with a Necro, Monk, and Paragon I think oh this is great decent balance (I buff physicals). Well we get going and the para puts up mending refrain on us plus he spams anthem of weariness, I'm thinking ok motivation with slight command line for some buffs. Well we get in and he's full healer zero in spear nothing. So I ask him:

Me: Paragon do you have any damage whatsoever?
Him: I'm a healer paragons are poor damage dealers.
Me: Paragons have a DPS to rival a warrior.
Him: People just think that due to Anthem of Flame.
Me: I have personally done a critical hit of 113 damage in Gate of Madness with Spear of Lightning.
Him: Paragons have no good spear attacks.
Me: Spear of Lightning, Spear of Redemption, Holy Spear, Vicious Spear, etc
Him: Trust me I took 13th in HoH where poor damage dealers
Me: You can buff teams and still do loads of damage you know.
Him: Yeah, whatever man.

I feel sorry for my paragon with this running around, maybe I'm acting childish right now I dunno.
