skills question

there is a tri-angle on the icon and a -1 on some of my skills. what does this mean?

The triangles help identify what kind of skill it is. A yellow triangle (pointing upwards) tells you that this skill is an enchantment spell. A pink triangle (pointing downwards) tells you that this skill is a hex spell.

The -1 on some skills tell you that it is a maintained spell. You can keep these maintained spells running for as long as you like, on the condition that you give up 1 pip of energy regeneration to keep it running. You can cancel these maintained enchantments manually if the upkeep starts to become too much for you to handle though (you get back those energy regen pips after you cancel the spells you're maintaining).

thanks, i running a 15th level w/m, i started the game with the skill retribution, it lasted a long time when i used it(several battles). as i move up in levels it got shorter and shorter, now i somethings don't get thru a battle and it's gone. it requires smiting prayer and i have 6 point for it.
any idea why the duration got shorter?

Its a maintained enchantment so either you are running out of energy, or some creature is stripping it.

The only time retribution will end because of energy is if you have negative energy regen and your energy hits 0.
