I vanquished Frozen Forest with H+H and decided to continue on to Icedome as it was not directly connected to any outpost. Getting past the loading screen and I found two members of my party dead and the rest struggling for their lives. WTF, the portal zoned me directly into 2 mobs of stone summit and one of ice golems? Apparently a bad spawn, not unheard of so I made a beeline back through the portal and took a deep breath. Through the portal to Icedome, directly into the same mobs, ensued by frantic microing to withstand the onslaught and claim a beachead since I didn't want to accumulate any more DP by trying my luck with the spawns (I do not use consumables when H+Hing). Past that point it was just a matter of careful sweeping but boy was the welcome committee heartfelt!
Same thing happened to me and two guildies when we vanquished it not too long ago. I went through the portal while the other two was AFK - and *splat* one then two then three groups were on top of us! Managed to run through the portal before we got a wipe. The two others didn't blame me too much though!

Whoever said 'why not just do the Ice Caves mission'...QFT! It's one of the easiest missions in Proph and it only takes 20-30 mins. Even if you had a running build that worked, would this be quicker?

We should just be happy that there are non-linear ways around the Southern Shiverpeaks. This is one of the drawbacks in Factions and Nightfall. I really like the openness of Prophecies. But complaining that designers didn't make areas runnable is odd.

I like the fact that even in a game as old as Prophecies there are still areas that make people struggle even in NM.

With all the nice skills and updates and changes that have been released since Prophecies, I think it is a good tutorial to learn GW by getting newbies to clear this map, with only the old Prophecies skills, like me (and so many others) used to do it, back in the day.

It's something special

Oddly enough, myself and a guildie decided to vanquish Ice Dome a couple of days ago. To my shame, in over 2 years of playing, I'd never been there!

Anyhow.....with our "default" vanquishing setup of Warrior (superb puller) +Sab's and me MB/Rodgorts, Prot Hero, Rt/N Explosive Growth secondary MM and SF nuker Hero, it was not overly hard, but still fun

Ice Dome is one of my favorite places. I remember the first time my Whammo soloed it without heroes or henchmen...I think it took me over 2 hours to clear.

Took way less than that in Prophecies days. I used to take 4-5 henchmen with me and then run to the cutscene, completing the mission from there, with a couple slots to someone along and all they had to do was stand idle in the cave. Might have taken 10-15 minutes, but with heroes now, it'd surely take less.

Guess Im the only one who runs throught this place lol. And the reason you don't do the mission that takse about 20 minutes is because I can do the entire run in about 25 minutes. That is really the only "tough" part. But done right its not to bad.

It's normal to find yourself pounced on by 2-3 groups when entering Icedome from Frozen Forest. Entering at Talus Chute is a much better option

I haven't managed to run it with my warrior myself (though I haven't tried since the old prophecies days), but I do know people have been able to do it. Fighting through is pretty easy however. If you're just doing it to get to groto, going from thk is easily runnable by just about anyone.

Probably been posted, but I do believe the Mo/R running build can do it. Don't ask me where to find said build as I don't know, but it involves spell breaker and serpents thingy.

emmm i used to breeze thru it on my derv, since the mystic regen nerf its a bit harder cuz of no counter-degen but i can still do it

heres the build template

i have caster sword with a shield with -2 stance +30 health both are a MUST

Template:

OgOjourKrSYisXtXqXEYgXlXWEA

keep conviction on, without it the run fails thru icedome, that build is for the full run thru to grotto via icedome, this build requires no type of assassin skills u can put some in if u want

P.S There is one break in the run, its the little tiny lake with the frozen elementals around it

Sometimes u cant get in cuz some elementals are already in it

its a good reststop to regen

Mo/R are the runners I've ever gotten in the past to run me around the Shiverpeaks. Spell Breaker is nice to breeze through Ice Imps and Golems, though it doesn't last real long.
