Theres probably alot of these topics posted already, but I wanted to ask in my way.
What was the one moment in GW that you and a good/bad team was facing off agianst something so hard It pushed you all to the point of quiting the team? Instead you rose up and pulled the team together for the victory.
For me:
Place: FoW
Type: Ursanway
Team: Bad
Numbers at the end: 5/8
Discription:
One ursan went afk forever then D/c, a monk followed at quest 5. We were on our last quest in the fire forest. The warrior over pulled alot of Hydra's and thats when it began. We ran, we ressurected and all but 1 monk died. That monk D/c for about 5min. I pulled the team to the fact we had 1 last guy to kill, most stayed. Another Ursan left. When that monk finally "awoke" he resurrected me, then I resurrected the team. We did win, thats the good thing.(Drops sold for about 60k in total) It took 4hrs.
What was "your" moment?

My awesome time was when I was in FoW as a warrior, my build had been criticized by the rest of the team, and after a particularly tough mob I was the only one left standing by a long margin, the rest having died several minutes earlier with me killing most of the mob. Since I had used res signet I sat around for 10 minutes, collected their drops, and left.

The team: Me and guildies
The Mission: Dunes of Despair
The Objective: Bonus (sans necro traversal)
None of us had ever attempted the bonus (this was a looong time ago - LOL), and we're fighting tooth and nail to get the thing done. We killed all 3 bosses in the fort with about 1:30 left, but there were several enemies still standing (that's when we found that they needed to be killed too).
The timer is running out, and party members are starting to go down. Things aren't looking good, but the enemies are dropping too.
10 seconds left and one last enemy (down to about 15-20% health) and only me (aside from the monk keeping the ghostly alive), a ranger with a short bow and in lots of pain.
I get a couple shots off and he's down to a sliver of health...
2 seconds left - I get one last shot off and down he goes as 0 pops up on the clock! Then I drop dead. COUNT IT! MISSION AND BONUS!
One of my guildies told me to NEVER make him do that again! - But it was fun. LOL

I joined a PUG for destructions depths, the mission where you have to go in and fight your way to the central transfer chamber and then clear it. My group was pretty good, until we got to the part where we had to help the Norn. It went okay at first, but our party got pretty well smashed after a while. It was to much for some, and one of our monks quit becuase he was thought we couldn't win. Another person, I think our last monk, quit becuase he had to leave. So our party was down to six.
We were able to fight off the Destroyers around the Norn with a bit of tricky placing of the Golems and careful aggroing, and finally work our way to the Central Transfer Chamber. However, we only had six in our party, and I don't think we had any dedicated monks. Luckily, we did have the Golems, which helped quite a bit. Sadly, I think another person left the game, leaving me, as a Dervish, and I think an Ele, a Ranger, and two Warriors. We were able to pick off all the groups of destroyers, except for the two right in the middle that surrounded the Avatar of Destruction, the final boss in the mission.
After spending about 15 minutes trying to pick these guys off, we decided to go after the Avatar of Destruction from the other side of the map. As luck would have it, after a few bouts of fighting it, the Golems shut down in a neat little triangle, trapping the Avatar so he couldn't follow us, or go back to its entourage. However, our party wasn't able to do enough damage without the golems to take him down, so we faced a tough decision; activate the golems and lose the advantage of trapping him in one place, or sit there for the next hour slowly killing it, if we could even do so.
I think at that point the Ranger decided that it was impossible and logged off, bringing our party to four. So what the remaining party decided to do was activate the golems, and try to kill the Avatar while keeping him away from the destroyer group. The Warriors kept the Avatar busy while I ran in and activated the golems. Afterwards it fell to me to keep them activated, in between attacking the Avatar, since the Warriors were very busy tanking the Avatar and keeping it from running back to its group and healing.
And it worked!
I don't know how we did it, but it was certainly the greatest PUG I've ever been in. Being able to go through the end of one of the harder missions of the game with only four people, and no monks, I have to say I was very impressed with that.

I guess my moment was the Gayla hatchery mission.
I had tried it a couple of times and got swamped part way through, then one day I saw my guildies were doing it and joined in as my Earth elementalist.
Dream mission no turtles lost and we breezed through it, everyone "maybe even me" doing the right thing at the right time.
A really good party still makes this game loads of fun for me.

Didn't set foot in DoA ever again.
Probably our group's epic moment (facilitated by me) was this:
Our alliance decided to do an FoW clear one night. We had a group of mostly people who had never been to FoW or hadn't seen more than the usual farming spots (myself included). We were cruising along just fine and our tank had to go for the night. Ok, no big deal, we just gotta be more careful about aggro and whatnot. So we get to the forest and I'm pulling the banshees away from the Wailing Lord(I'm playing barrage ranger) and we're picking them off nicely. Someone runs up to talk to the Wailing Lord and triggers all the popups and all the separate groups before I could pull them. Our party almost complete wiped except for myself. Most of the team had been killed behind the group so a rebirth would mean suicide. But there were a couple team members (I think a monk and an ele) who were ahead of them so I could rebirth them. It took like 15 minutes but we managed to pull the popups in small enough chunks to kill off. I was very happy I brought rebirth and very proud of our group for being able to pull itself out of a possible wipe.
Our group ended up cruising along again and were on the last quest (the shard wolf one). We had 1 wolf left and going to kill him. When we got to the beach that's when 2 big waves of monsters came up and caused us to scatter. They end up killing off one of the griffins in the Tower of Courage and we got kicked out.
4 and a half hours of questing and a half hour pulling the group from the brink of a wipe just to get wiped at the verge of a clear. At least one of our teammates (not me) got like 4 shards and a couple keys.

"My Moment" unfortunately, didn't end happy, but it was pretty epic.
I was pugging The Eternal Grove with my Necro (MM).
Unfortunately .. I had no res on my bar, and well you guessed it, during 2/12 groups remaining my party got whiped, except for me. I couldn't res anyone, but I could at least try to make the best of it.
I ended up killing the next 9 waves single handedly, with help of my minions of course, with all the people in pug (or at least those who didn't left yet) cheering me on and rooting for me.
Sadly enough I couldn't handle the last wave with the bosses and died ._.
With those who didn't leave, we tried again (and with res this time :P ) and made it.

Dual-UW farm.
My guildy as a 55, I as a SS necro.
Ages ago.
He gets rended and the aaxte wipes his ass.
I run behind the ghost and then use Suffering, Vamp gaze and my super godly curses wand to kill off the bastard.
You can imagine how long it took ....
The other success stories always start with me leading the team - so there is nothing special about us getting it done!

I think it was on Hell's Precipice mission normal mode. I was playing with guildies, we have 3 monks. We have made the mission a lot of times, so we decided that one of the other monks should run a prot, the other a healer, and me a smither that can buff the warrior and the dervish.
Everything was smooth when suddenly our healer began to charge against the big boss mob you can easily avoid at the beginning of the mission. We try to save him, but, he died without any mercy (Two minutes after that he disconnected and reconnected, he had a connection problem). Our problem was that we where taking too much damage, all the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing titans of the whole map were trying to kill us, and the prot alone could not keep us alive. So, I began spamming my smithing prayers spell healing with my divine favor bonus, and we could survive! God bless the smithing spells without recharge time!

Back in the day Final Assault used to be considered a pain in the arse to complete, due to the flame djinns all having to be killed at the same time, not easy with a pick up group, as co-ordination was never a strong point with em, ( probably still isnt).
But this one time we managed to throw a team together, no mean feat as deldrimor war camp used to be crammed with five man oro parties, anyway it was a true international team a couple of Aussies a South African guy me and my guildie from UK and the rest from wherever,i cant remeber now, have to say it was the best PUG team i have ever been in , we finished FA, and afterwards for a long while we farmed FOW and SF together whenever we could, thier names are still in my friends list, and we still keep in touch,. Good times, good guys n girls.

I (as a ranger) started an 8-man group without monks, with the absolute assurance that it 'should' be possible to do Hells without monks.
So we prepared the team and skills (I accepted everyone, taking 3 warriors, whoever wanted to come along)very carefully, optimizing what we had and went ahead. It sure took long but in the end I took about 6 or 7 teams through. iirc about 4 teams unfortunately failed but atleast I proved that it was possible when noone else thought you had even the slightest of chance if you didn't bring atleast 2 monks!
That was my victory

On the forums I'm most proud about having aided in the discussion which ended in the charr salvage kits made available, followed by the favor discussion.
Theres a few more but alas, I have no time right now
Definitely Dunes of Despair. this was ages ago
I pugged a group with one guildie of mine to get miss + bonus. I was hybrid monk, and my guildie was warrior, with the mixed pug of necro, ele, ranger etc.
we managed to defeat the 3 bosses and had to wait till the timer ran out. unfortunately, the party got wiped (staying too far away from me to heal them D: ). I had a rez signet which i used on my warrior guildie (only one i can trust). We had to keep off the enchanted hammers and the forgotten spellcasters from killing the ghostly hero. I kept healing and protting them both, (he unfortunately ran out of ress earlier :S). And he kept hacking away. Eventually my guildie caved in and it was just me protting the ghostly hero while about 12 enchanteds and forgottens were hacking at him (not to mention the siege wurms). i was just relying on WoH to get me through as i was eventually running out of energy. 7 seconds left...i ran out of energy (completely, my energy emergency sets wasted) , charged in with weapon set and attacked the melee. they switched targets (as the squishy that i am), got me to about 2/10ths health before we won...so awesome.

don't know if it really count but H/Hing vanquish on Snake Dance, Drednoughts, Lonar's. SD and DD went pretty easy. Lonar's I thought would be the easier of the three but NO! why would it!? lol
I wasn't having a very hard time at until 1 group! Just ONE GROUP! It was a group of summit with 2 Dolyak Riders. This group runs around the map so we had missed them at one point. After finishing a mob, they came up on us and I just watched as they ran by, I was thinking wtf, where'd they come from, but oh well. I decided to engage and kill them.. they had other plans. Wiped!
I then go back, kill other mobs and build up minions, engage them again. Wiped.
3rd time, wiped.. Now I'm just getting angry. I killed a group of summit that was 30 strong and I can't take out one group of 6!? 4th time, near wipe.. flagged the h/h and a couple got away, rezzed. paid the shrine and consumables for moral boost and went off to hunt them again. I'm now running out of gold and wasting too many consumables on ONE mob.. This time I changed tactic and pinned a Rider against a wall.. It took us almost 10 minutes to kill the pinned one but we did it. The rest of the group fell easily after and I ended up completing the area.
Warning to all.. Beware of Dolyak Riders in Hard Mode! The Masters are candy, the Riders suck!!!! They run around WAY TOO MUCH! Plus Remove Hex, Mark of Protection, Heal Other! when facing two of them, its a nightmare!!

Anyone have "that" moment fighting Frost Mow?
I did >.<.........whole team was at around 40DP on HM I used the almight cons....we STILL got back to 40ish DP on 4th level.
I got tierd of this and chewed out an ursan for aggroing the wurms early.
I got back into the "moment" of the final boss and sacrificed myself a few times for the team. Eventually they cought on and used me as the bait.
We won, I died a lot but. We got the chest.
XD
