Was it worth it?

No.
When I first started playing I was between jobs and in a bad place. I think GW saved my ass for a little while because it passed the time and distanced me from reality, which was sucking. That did me a lot of good, and was worth it.
But I've kept playing since then, and at this point...no, now it's bad for me. I should train myself to be productive in my off-hours, even if I'm physically and mentally exhausted and want to zone out.

As long as I enjoy every moment I spend within the Guild Wars world, it will always be worth it. When, or if, the day comes that it's no longer fun for me, when it feels more like doing a chore instead of "play time", that'll be my notice for a curtain call. And when, or if, that day comes, I'll look back on it all and say it was absolutely worth it.
So far though, on my lunch breaks, and after work, I can't wait to log in and forget about the day for a few hours.

I've accumulated over 3500 (!) hours in this game from day 1 and I honestly say that most of it could have been spent elsewhere but it is pointless to regret what happened. No money in the world can buy time back. As long as you don't neglect anything else which might be of importance (if school or your career suffers you'll be an sorry idiot) , it's ok if you feel comfortable in spending a lot ingame.
about 1600 hours maybe. sure it was worth it, i got some really cool stuff and enjoyed the game alot. the only problem is i get bored of it really fast now. i do not want to drop another 1k hours building a new char and my warrior can not do what casters can. so i am distancing myself slowly.
some day i will quit, mmo's are not for me.

All I really do is run around the Guild Hall chatting away with players. I think of Guild Wars as a really neat MSN. I still occasionally PvP or do stuff for fun, but...
Girlfriend > Guild Wars. Anyday. Anytime.
I'd say that no, my time wasn't spent all that great. I wasted a lot of life playing this game, but the people on there is what keeps me playing.

I know for a fact that i have pleeeenty of fun in guild wars... but.... everytime i think of the fact that over the 1k hrs over 9 months, I could've been working at a rate of $18/hr, & thus I would prolly be sitting on a very decent sized nest egg ( $18kAUD), i tend to get a bit of a reflex in my leg, almost like I feel like kicking myself.....
Oh well =P
