If you're prepared to pay a considerable amount of money, starting over isn't as bad as it used to be. Platinum pack, Factions, Nightfall and all the unlock packs and you're good to go.

I would imagine that, in the not-too-distant future that they will be offering a compendium containing all chapters - would make sense with no more content forthcoming.

I personally don't think that a perma-ban on you as a person would make any sense. You've been caught exploiting the system and you've paid the price.

If you were to get a new account, you sure as hell would stick to the straight and narrow, right? I'm pretty sure you didn't understand the severity of what you were involved in.

Good luck - hope we see you ingame soon.

Yeah, as you might have read in the Exploits thread, I took advantage of that bug 7 times, or 21 times if you think about it as how many times I visited the outpost (3 times per 1 run). I just hope they let me start over, I would really stick to the clean and narrow then.

They told me that none of my appeals would be entertained in the future, and Gaile told me that the fact that I visited the outpost 21 times, again, 3 times per 1 run, screwed the pooch. That also screws alot of other people's pooches who did like, 1 run, and stopped, or failed, and tried again and left. I just hope they let us start over anew if we choose.

With my answer from support on its way, I have another question. My main account had a specific character name that I really liked, Miniature Vizu, on my Assassin. Is there anyway I can get this character name off my account? I asked support to wipe my main, and I also asked if they had the power to create a placeholder character with the name.

And as distressing as it is for more than the individual players involved, some players will find their ban must be upheld, for the good of the game.

Offering to buy the game and start over may or may not influence your appeal.

You have me way wrong. I have almost entirely given up hope that I can get my main back, I just want to start over fresh so I can still play with my friends. I have been trying, for literally a week, to get my main back. If I start over fresh, I don't need to worry about it.

Well, knowing you, I think you could start over. But, it'd be hard, I guess.

I wouldn't buy a new account until you're sure they won't ban you again.

When DHCP leases are renewed, you almost always get the same IP address assigned to you that just expired. You can try and change it by powering down your modem and restarting it, but even that's not guaranteed.

If you're playing on dial-up, it's different, but people on DSL and cable effectively have static IPs most of the time.

Also, all IPs that would be useful in playing an online game are "traceable". Even if you have a different IP, you're still on the same netblock, and if they thought something was up they'd have a good starting point to investigate the new account.

I agree. Can I get my character name off my main banned account now though? Can I ask support to do that?

That doesn't mean u get the same ip address the next day or the following. IP address alone cannot trace an individual user and should not (and probably dont) get used as such.

Not sure. Maybe they'd be willing to delete Vizu or whatever character you want so you can remake them. If not... Too bad I guess

I would say to just submit a support ticket and ask. However, make sure that whoever responds has the authority to give you a definitive answer of yes or no you may not. Might be a good idea to ask further questions like, "Ok, you've allowed me to start a new account, what do I do if it's accidently banned again because they didn't realize I have asked prior permission first that was officially given? Is there some reference number/confirmation number that I can give them to verify that I have officially been given permission to create a new account?" Or something like that. I'm sure you wouldn't want just anyone from support giving you permission or saying that they 'believe' it would be alright when they have no authority for granting/denying something.

Just some of my thoughts, anyway.

I would find out how far the ban extends - is it just GW Nightfall - or does it include Factions and Proph as well as GW:EN and does it extend to GW2 or other games?

IF I were banned and had to start over, I wouldn't use any name or similarity to any name I had on a previous account. Call it taking extra precautions to prevent rebanning.
Second idea instead of buying everything, try a trial account?

THIS is a good topic right here. IF someone were to banned, and wanted to come back for GW2, would their previous ban carry over or might trigger a flag for them to be banned?
Curious...

It's because I learned from that BMP situation. :P

Mickey, don't accept any answer like: "We believe at the present time that you won't be banned for making a new account." They could change their minds later after you spent the time and money in re-starting a GW account..:P

/still moody over the BMP situation but I shush! :X
