Two April Mornings' HM Build
Two April Mornings
I am simply posting the build with which I was able to vanquish about 90% of the zones in Tyria, Cantha, and Elona. It is simple to use and extremely effective (especially if you are using Heroes and Henchman).
Here is the code:
OQZDAqwLSHDXDFBylaAcA2gYcA
For those that cannot see the pictures:
Glyph of Energy {Elite}
Maelstrom
Shatter Enchantment
Pain Inverter
Empathy
Backfire
Cry of Pain
Sunspear Rebirth Signet
The Attribute spread is:
10+1 Fast Casting
12+1+1 Domination
The rest in water magic.
I use all Radiant Insignias, a superior vigor, and I usually use a staff with +60 health.
Basic usage:
Just keep Glyph of Energy up as much as you can (as it is your only energy management) and cast the hexes on the correct targets (backfire on casters, empathy on attackers). Cast cry of pain on targets you hexed for extra damage. Use Glyph of Energy before every cast of Maelstrom. Use Maelstrom to deal with annoying caster beasts such as Ruby Djinns, Dolyak Riders, and Roaring Ethers. Shatter enchantment is just used to remove enchantments. Use Pain Inverter on targets that deal AoE damage such as Dervishes and Elementalists for maximum damage.
With this build you can hopefully easily tear through groups of 5-6 Dolyak Riders in HM.
I hope this helps any PVE mesmer having trouble getting through HM.

Cool, I was looking for a newer build to try. So thanks, I'll give this one a shot soon.

Do you have a snare or a tank to try and contain aggro, as I found Maelstrom makes the mob scatter after 1-2 seconds. Does this still happen? Been a while since I used it in HM. Pre AI change in Sept 05 Maelstrom used to to be one of the best mob interupts in the game. Slap it down and watch em twitch. I found the damage scales poorly with Maelstrom, but it's aoe interrupt abilty is awesome.
I used a similar build in DoA gloom, except I had Auspicious incantation and Deep freeze(use GoE as above or MoR) to just pin everything in place for the Maelstrom. With around 10-11 FC you can have AI+DF down by the time the ele has cast Meteor shower. Then use Maelstrom to interupt inbetween MS KD's.

Yes, I usually have a water Elementalist hero using Deep Freeze, Ice Spikes and the such. The AI tends to scatter out of the Maelstrom after not too long, but its long enough to get off at least 3-4 interrupts, which makes it definitely worth bringing.
But yes, snares definitely help lengthen the AI's time in Maelstrom.

Could you please tell me what hero builds you're using? The fire imps around Lions Arch own me easily with this build. Even when using henchies. I had my protection monk, elementalist and tank with me. (in HM ofcourse)

Nice build I think that in most parts in HM where monsters just attack and cast like crazy, that backfire and empathy become that much more of staple skills on a build :P

As i said, i often use a water elementalist with Deep Freeze, Ice Spike, and Ward against Harm--the latter of which should greatly help against the imps. The other 2 heroes are usually one SS necro and one hybrid Word of Healing monk. I usually take all available healer henchman, one ele henchman, and the necro henchman.
