titles: what are they for?
razuel
I noticed a section for titles if you complete certain things. Like exploring all of tyria or elona or completing all of the missions. Do these have any significance other than your own personal satisfaction?
Molock
You can brag.. but nobody will care or pay attention. The only use they have at the moment is to do with GW2. Max titles saved in the Hall of Monuments = a (currently unknown) unlock in GW2.
Edit: I forgot to mention that certain titles affect certain in-game things. For example the higher the kurzick title the better the kurzick skills. The higher your lightbringer titles the more effective you are against margonites and torment creatures, etc.

One more thing : the lightbringer title may be helpful in the end of elona but is certainly not nessecary =) just play the game like you want and you might get some titles even if you didn't grind for them like 70% exploration or something ; or the 100id title

I will say this though - if you feel like a challenge and want to see if you can actually kill everything in every area in HM - you get a vanquishing title whether you want it or not. If you feel it would be fun to try to cap every elite skill - you guessed it - you get a title.
Not everyone is out there "grinding" for titles - some are just fun (and/or challenging) to get.
Also of course, for the titles that actually do something (EotN plus some others), you don't have to have the max level to gain most of the benefit.

Not everyone is aware of wiki, actually. In fact, if they were, there'd be a lot fewer questions on here. So, pointing someone to wiki both helps to answer their question, and makes them aware of wiki.

Here's an unrelated question-- don't want to start a new topic for it and it's not wiki-answerable----
I found this sword a couple years ago when the game first came out in the desert. Is it still pretty good by today's standards? I'm trying to figure out what to upgrade for PvP. I have another question about my char I'll probably make a new thread about unless this has enough attention,

Wisdom helps when salvaging.
Lucky and Treasure Hunter help with lockpicks.
Kurzick/Luxon help with skills.
Lightbringer helps against servents of Abaddon, and skills.
Sunspear helps with skills.
Norn gives health in some areas, and helps with skills.
Asuran gives energy in some areas, and helps with skills.
Ebon Vanguard helps against Charr, and helps with skills.
Deldrimor helps against Destroyers, and helps with skills.
Hero helps you find a team for HA (lawl)
Everything else is for personal satisfaction.

I consider getting certain titles something to do before I officially say I'm finished with a character. Call it like getting 100% in a video game, or in some cases, enough to be done to say I'm good with what I have.
For myself, Protector titles are a must for every single one of my characters.

Weapons come pretty easy now with collectors and inscriptions.
razuel
My other question was about my char. Are these attributes trash? I didn't plan this guy out at all, just put pts where I felt they needed to be. I do mostly PvE, but I'd like to get into PvP. I only have one elite skill too. I assume the wiki will help me find elite skills?
P.S. If I plan on using a weapon shouldn't I customize it? Adds 20% damg.

The attributes are fine, the healing spells are a waste (other than the res) on a warrior. Bring a monk, and/or healing signet for healing. Some will even argue a hard res isn't that great on a front line tank, and that you should bring a signet. There was a brief period when wa/mos were in fashion in PVP after the recent word of healing update, but it's more a joke than anything else.
Yes, you should customize any weapon you are actually going to fight with. Many folks will tell you never to customize a req 7 or 8 max weapon because they are worth more money... I say to hell with them, it's your sword do what you wanna.
Yeah, you can get vamp or sundering or zealous off of any sword what has em and just 'overwrite' whatever is on yours if you so desire.

Okay thank you. ONE last question.
I read on the wiki--
"To get to Heroes' Ascent, start in the Random Arenas. Win there 5 times in a row, to unlock Team Arenas. Then win in the Team Arenas 5 times (it doesn't have to be in a row), which will unlock Heroes' Ascent."
I have team arenas and heroes' ascent unlocked already, but I never won 5 battles in a row. Am I missing something?

(Not to mention, it appears in the middle of the quoted text, not at the end.)
But anyway - just pointing it out - not trying to flame.

The norn title is SUPPOSED to give health, but I'm a warrior and it has never given me any health in the norn areas....
Anyone else had this same issue???

You have to display the title for it to take effect; same with the other EotN titles. And btw, please check the last posting date.

Gives completing the entire game a purpose! Otherwise it would just be, complete daily zquest then go farm whatever thing you farm to earn money for whatever item you want. Instead of PMing people "What are you farming" you can ask "Whats up" instead. ^^
I really wish they'd just make all the reputation ones account wide though. It simply put would just add more fun to the game, hate playing subpar characters or lacking skills to do what I want to do. Grinding 10 hours to get a reputation to the right level for a build to work as intended, not good.

If you make the Norn title the one displayed it will give a health boost. By displayed, I mean going to the list of titles and checking it. Only works in Norn areas, not Vanguard, Asura, etc.
Zebideedee
Lightbringer helps if you do DoA! I also take assassin support Vanguard skill on my bar, your Vanguard rank affects that, Technobabble = Asuran rank affects that
Thats just me though, theres loads of PvE skills in EotN that get better depending on your title rank!

Have you gone to the proper NPC (Storyteller guy in Gunner's Hold) to get the skill (Heart of the Norn)?
