when is the new years thing for factions. i heard it is end of january or its in febuary. which is it and what is the event like?

If we have it, it would in theory be Feb 7th this year as it coincides with Chinese new year.

I would hope that they have it anyways, just because I'm ready to have the festival games opened up again. Unfortunately, nothing right now points in that direction except that they might want to have it for tradition.

What they may decide to do is just change how the Canthan New Year works, being moved to a different date than the Chinese New Year, and operating on their own schedule.

There were a significant number of Lunar New Years references in the Canthan New Years celebration. It would probably be easier for them to have it during the Lunar New Years cycle rather than changing all the references to something else. That being said, why does Tyria operate on the same length year as us anyway, lunar or otherwise? Only to fit our preconceptions. That is why it will probably be held Feb. 7-10 if at all.
