Soloing/Duoing Obsidian Behemoths in UW
Rhuobhe
I'd really like to be able to kill these guys and get past them, for as I understand it they are the gatekeepers to some of the best dropping areas in the game.
So does anyone have a Solo (not likely) or Duo build that can get past them? Healing Spring is obviously a big problem, not to mention the traps they lay and Nature's Renewal.
I have a few ideas; mainly AoE damage spells and perhaps even a monk with barrage + SS/SV necro (since barrage would interrupt all of them - but this is energy heavy)
The problem I've seen with SS is that they just duck down and lay low, not doing too much of anything most of the time.
Any help would be appreciated.

A Ranger with Barrage and a Fire Elementalist may be able to do it. Barrage will interupt their traps and the Ele. will do the damage. However, I'm not sure how you would get past the Aatxe and Darkness. I've cleared the Twin Serpent mountains with three trappers and an Ele. Rangers shoot arrows at the Obsidians and the Ele. damages. Hope I've helped.

There are actually a few threads on this, so I would recommend the search button, but I've never found any Behemoths to be an issue at all. You do need to interupt their HS and traps, but everyone but M/N or N/M have decent interuptions... AoE works really well since they don't move. How about an E/* with Maelstrom and Meteor Shower (I know, not the greatest of skills, just demonstrating how simple these are)? Remember that Traps are easily interupted.
A better combo is a N/R or R/N using Spinal Shivers and Winter. Since traps do so well in UW, you can just incorporate these two skills into a standard Trap Build either solo or duo.

I could see you doing this as a three person group. Just bring 3-4 rangers as a regular trap group. Have 2-3 of them bring Barrage in place of Spike Trap and you're set.

Well I have used the search button, specifically searching "obsidian behemoth" and nothing came up, feel free to try it yourself.
Currently I'm running the standard 55hp monk with a SS/SV necro. I use 2 laptops side by side and do the run myself or with my wife.
I'd prefer to work around this, as we have a lvl 20 ascended character of every class (w/ 2 monks and 2 war) but only a lvl 10 ranger, which we never use.
55Mo & SS/SV necro is the best way to clear the aataxes, smites, coldfires and darkness'. Taking that into consideration, I would like to modify either or both of these characters so that I can get around the Obsidans.
The necro has Arcane Echo, so I could always try to bring Chaos storm and echo it, then use SS on one of the OB's.
One of the problems I was having is the OB's seem to duck down into their shells and don't do much, even when I'm within attacking range.
So based on that, any suggestions?

With my 55 monk, i often have 1 open slot, that i dont really use, (usually just bring extra protection), maybe bring Balthazaurs Aura for that, and u could do some BA dmg on them.
I've never tried.

55 monks cant get near them. natures renewal eats ur energy fast. very fast
{IceFire}
55 monks: drop balth spirit, keep mending on, interrupt a healing spring with wand(necros can out-ss one spring but not two) and dont use breeze. they dont do enuf dmg to warrant it. stay at range, cuz traps are teh bad lol
MoNo
why not take the norm duo and a 3rd ranger or ele
monk could switch armor and heal somewhat take rez and cc and i'm sure we could do it

Everyone is wasting they're time, any UW duo team thats in ToA daily can do the mountain. Its not hard. Only thing that can mess you up is the Charged Blackness, just kill them before your SB runs out. a monk with Barrage? thats insane. Use your heads people, who said you have to stand right next to them on the traps to activate spiteful?

You can complete UW with a 3 man team. IT is doable. And no..the 3rd person does not have AoE or barrage.
The only area that should pose a problem would be the Chaos Plains, the only area in UW thats completly anti-caster. Bone Pits hard? Can be. But if your smart its a walk in the park.

A teammate and I 2 man'd to spawning pools and cleaned it out, except the terrorweb queen. Invincie-necro + mo/mes ( yes roles reversed). Killed all Dreamriders , Mindblade spawns , and wailing lords as well...no 4 horsemen quest tho. Cant say i didnt have any dp clearing mindblades them things are vicious.
Worms are not a problem really unless they are too spread out for AoE. Interrupting heal springs is easy, unless they are in whirling defense stance.Natures renewal gets destroyed fairly quickly from the AoE from SS. I am confident I can solo these with n/mo, but it will be time consuming, and I'm not a big fan of obsidian burrower jaws..... The only thing that I have seen drop anything decent was charged blackness's, which commonly drop ectos, however there isnt that many charged's to make it worthwhile. Watch for shock and whirlwind vs charged blackness and they are a breeze...no need for SB vs them IMO, it will slow down your energy gain
Maybe I'll solo them today and make a video snippet or 2 of a few battles.

Here ya go only took 2 tries
Solo obsidian behemoths in uw video as well as many other solo n/mo vids

Worms were a walk thru the park, just switch targets and interrupt springs as each one sets them off...they die fairly easy.
A lot of obsidian burrower jaws...as suspected.

Well, I have not watched it yet but thanks for making the video.
I know exactly what my problem was: When I was trying to kill them, I'd send in the necro first, along the wall so she wouldn't get hit. The OB's targeted her, then ducked down since they couldn't hit her. When the monk came in, they stayed in thier holes because they weren't interested in the monk.
Pretty easy to kill, the real problem was the one described above. SS does nothing to worms when they stay in thier hole.
