Guild Wars 2
AltadnriaAyame
I'm sure this will sound like a very noob question, but I recently looked online to see what kind of characters you can be in Guild Wars 2. It said that there is a choice between Asura, Charr, Human, Norn, and and Sylvari...now I'm not sure, but I think Human means the same characters we get now. I was just wondering if it was true or not.
RPGmaniac
Yes, our characters are human so humans in GW2 will be the same as what we have now.
Racial bonuses are possible though so humans might have something Charr and Asuras don't.

End
I would assume so maybe not exactly the same char setup but yes same race from what I know

Thanks lol ^_^

It seems like I'm one of the very few people that's looking forward to GW2. I think GW2 will have all the stuff I like in GW, plus all the stuff I like in WOW. I don't really like WOW because I played it for about a week, but there are some good features in WOW that I would love to see in GW2.

I've never played WoW, but I love the artwork. I just remembered another thing which I doubt is right, but i was wondering if our stuff from GW1 can be moved to GW2....highly doubt it though

I tried WoW for 3 days HATED the gfx, but loved the open world. The only thing guild wars is missing is an open world and a much higher level cap. If these features were added GuildWars would be 100 times more appealing than it is right now after playing for nearly three years and accomplishing everything I set out to do, plus once more on several other pve characters.
The only thing I HAVEN'T done yet is gain my rank 9. But if GuildWars 2 is around the corner, I see no point in grinding for it, just to leave it behind months after.

What would be really cool is if we run into other people in the Wilderness...It would be really cool to battle someone else other than NPCs or in PVP

I agree, im happy they are extending the level cap and keeping the actual development the same. WoW has some good features as you have said, like the open world, and the talent system (though i do like the skill sytem better, they could implement the talents for the higher level development).

I would prefer they did not have racial stat bonuses in GW2 for the simple reason that leads to min-maxing. Different armors or race-specific weapon skins, sure, but GW1 establishes that Charr/Norn/Asura are no stronger, faster, or smarter than humans stat-wise. *If* the different races were portrayed as having different stats or other modifiers, then I'd say fine, but that isn't the case.
As to the persistent world - well that is a double-edged sword; you now have to compete w/ others for things to hunt when out of a town, and you have to worry about kill stealers and griefers. Currently, if I leave a town or outpost, you can't follow me and meddle w/ my play.

Or they could just make it no attacking other players unless in special/extra dangerous areas. The fact that there r other people there around me would make me feel that the game is more MMO.
Also, does anyone care that ur characters from GW1 will be lost in GW2?

On a related note, if GW2 has a higher level cap, then the power scale would also be different - a level 20 character here would be as powerful as, perhaps, a level 50 character in GW2.

Lol, I have the exact opposite opinion. The fact that there r other people around me makes me feel... well... more real. If u know what I mean, I feel that is the whole point of these games, MMORPG (that's what GW is officially classified as).

hm, will gw2 be an mmo? I kind of like the fact that you can run around and see random people talking. I feel like i can interact more with the people while exploring, ill see a lone person being attacked by two enemies and ill come and save the day
and we'll be best friends forever. HAHA ok a little cheesy i know but yeah that would be cool. Or has that information about gw2 not been released?

Really. Oh, I didn't know. I like MMO better.

It seems to me from what i've heard about WoW is that once you kill a boss, they have to revive, and sometimes that takes hours because of other people waiting to kill it, I dont know about anyone else, but im not waiting a couple of hours just to kill one boss.

[wow]Killing a specific mob for a quest objective does require waiting around sometimes.[/wow]
Sir Tidus
U know, I think part of that waiting makes the game world seem more real. There shouldn't be just a boss for anyone to kill if they wanted. MMO is supposed to simulate a real fantasy world, that's y it's fun (I'm not saying that waiting is fun, but u can do a lot of other things instead of waiting). Overall, I think that one open world for everyone is better than ur own world. Just my opinion, but that's what MMO is.
ajmorgan25
Along with the open world I'm also thinking that they will have an auction house, which is one of the most needed features in Guild Wars. I don't mind the raised level cap as long as the skill bar remains somewhat the same. In WOW you can have 70 skills equipped at one time and I hope GW keeps it small as it is now.
