So i am thinking about... do they drop more things than map pieces on gwen? (anyone said lockpicks?)
Could a bear/animal hunt run be profitable? (hahaha, should be good)

Interesting. I've never seen them drop anything before, so I wouldn't know if they drop other stuff as well.

One time, while doing Curse of the Nornbear in HM for the 50th time (go-go HM book farming 'til your brains melt! Dx) I saw Sif, the NPC, drop a map piece. I wish I took a screenie but anyways, I think that just shows you that map pieces will drop from anything, like the one pet during your run.

I've had Map Pieces drop from Polar Bears as well.. never gave it much thought though..

I actually got a map piece last night from my 1st kill in the EoTN mapped area. I went out of Borreal and whamo the Bear I killed dropped a map piece, i was just killing him for minion fodder

I had a map piece drop from a polar bear killed by Jotuns once when I was just running by.
I thought it happened, because NPC had killed it.
Nice to know that it might as well have dropped, if I had killed the animal myself.

I've had similar experiences...i found one of my map pieces randomly laying on teh ground...figure an NPC or 2 mobs that don't get along must have dropped it...very interesting

yes they drop stuff such as holiday items, regular tomes, and items such as those not on the regular loot table.
