I can't start Gwen's Flute

For some reason I can't start Gwen's Flute quest (the one that u find Gwen's broken flute). Every time I talk to her, she follows me. I have given her a red flower before though, and she has a flute in her hand, I'm not sure what that means. So how do I start the quest? Can anyone help me?

I was in a party when I talked to her. Could that mean that I don't need to do the quest because the party member already did it?

You probably also received the credit for having done the quest already if you grouped with someone for it. (Not completely sure about this though)

Bug! If you are a monk, or if you have a bugged Gwen (wearing red cape) that does not give you this quest, you may group with another player who has this quest to get the 250 XP reward.

Is it a bug? She's already wearing a red cape and already has a good flute in her hand! Can I still get her broken flute to her?

I'm a W/Mo, not monk primary. I think it's because I went out of the city with a party member that has already done this quest. What do I do now? I really wanna get that item from for Eye of the North!

I also found that when I did the broken flute quest with my ranger, even after I turned it in for the exp reward that when I ran down the road again on my way to Ashford Abbey, the flute spawns again across the river.
I found it on my own, after the quest was completed already, so I think you will find it again as well.
Even if you do not have the flute, the tapestry she gives you for giving her the Red Iris Flowers is used for an exclusive to Tyrian characters Eye of The North quest as well. Go to GuildWiki like BFG instructed you to do and you will find answers to ALL your quest questions there.

I have, but I still don't understand what exactly I have to do. Some of the info there is incomplete. Look, here's my situation. I never started the quest, yet Gwen is already wearing a cape and has a good flute, this was either bugged to begin with or because I traveled with a party member that already did this quest. I am a W/Mo, not a Mo primary. So what can I do to get the tapstry thing from her for the quest in Eye of the North? Plz help me, I'm desperate!

Im trying not to have this sound like a flame, but try not to worry about it too much. Not getting her the flute in presearing will have no bearing on missions or GW:EN quest. Dont get too frustrated trying to find the thing and wasting too much of your time. 250 exp in the long run is nothing, so wont be missed too much.
Id recommend just proceed with other quests and if you happen to find it in that area later on, cool. If not, eh not to worry. Also check you quest log and make sure the quest has been picked up. If you finished the quest before, or never got the quest, that may explain it too.

I don't care about the exp or flute! I need the Tapestry Shred for a quest in eye of the north!

Try just repetitively giving her Red Iris Flowers until she gives you the Tapestry Shred. Other than that, I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Sounds like you hit the GWEN already has cape bug.
If you joined with a person who has already done the quest you will see her wearing the cape. When that happens the game thinks you have already done the quest and will not let you start it.
However, it is not a big deal - its only 250 xp and there are a lot of people with the shred who are more than willing to sell it or even give it away.
In fact, if you will post your ign and a time when you will be on you can have my shred as I am not taking my pre character to post.

If you are nice to Gwen she will give you the tapestry shred. Just keep giving her the red iris flowers that you should find all over in pre-searing.
