What Is The Terra Tank Build For UW When Partying With Ursans?

I often see Ursan groups in ToA looking for a "Terra Tank" elementalist. I searched on pvxwiki & found it, but it says it's used to "solo the Smite Crawlers in the Underworld within 10 minutes".

If this is a solo build, surely they're on about a different build than the one I viewed on pvxwiki. This is the one I viewed - http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/Me_Terra_Tank

Also, this build does damage to nearby foes for 10 secs via [skill]sandstorm[/skill] which I'm assuming would cause aggro around me to break & mess everything up for the rest of the party, so surely this can't be the terra tank build they're on about

^^ Obsi tank makes a lot more sense than the terra tank shown above for tanking UW.

Anyway, it seems the majority of people going into UW these days are Ursans & seeing as I only have Proph, Factions & Nightfall I can't join their party as I'm not Ursan. The only way for me to join their party would be if I was a terra tank, which is why I'm asking these questions.

Terra tank, obsidian tank, meh, all sounds the same to me.

They mean the obsidian tank, they just say terra because it's earth spells, I guess.

Are you sure it can be used in UW though because it says:

Whether it be called "terra tank" or "obsidian tank" the reason for having it in a uw ursan clear grp for the Four Horsemen quest (see guildwiki for specific details).

In the Four Horsemen quest the chaos planes reaper is attacked on the right by 2 of Dhuums horsemen, and on the left by another 2. The terra tank or obsid tank usually holds off the right side while the ursans destroy the left, then head over to the right.

The rest of the time, a GOOD terra/obsid tank will be secondary mesmer, and use Arcane Mimicry on an ally, to have ursan and help tear thro grps.

Thats the only real reason for taking them in uw ursan clears. Hope that helps!

OK I just bought all these skills & the right armor etc, to make it exactly how it said on the page located here - http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/D_FoW_Obsidian_Tank. I then joined an Ursan group who said they were looking for a "Terra Tank elementalist" and when I pinged my build they said "wrong build, bye".

So I wasted my money & I'm still no closer to finding out what a terra tank is.

you cant play the terra tank without gwen either. the key to the terra tank is arcane mimicry, so that you can play as an ursan for 99.9% of the run. On the four horsemen quest, the ele tank has to hold one side by himself while the rest of the group clears the other side then comes to save the ele. But the terra tank build is useless for the rest of UW... aka gogo arcane mimicry to give you some use.

build itself is something standard like obflesh, glyph of swiftness, stone striker, mantra of earth, stoneflesh, arcane mimicry etc. traditional stack armor and reduce dmg with mantra/stone striker.

Can I not use Arcane Mimicry to gain Ursan even if I don't have GWEN?

It'd be locked on your skillbar if you tried that.

some grps do not require that the terra have ursan, as long as he's good enough to grp aggro and even run off on his own to take out some scythes of chaos for instance on his own.

Just stop trying to get into those 1337 r10 ursan grp

Haha, well I wish it were that simple. I mean, I could stand there spamming "Experienced Echo Nuker LFP For UW" over & over for 15-20 mins, but it doesn't seem to get me anywhere. groups these days only seem to want ele's for FoW & the only ele's wanted for UW are terra/ursan
