1: There is seldom a "best" build.
2: People are generally more willing to help if, instead of just asking for a build, you put up a build you're using, and allow people to suggest improvements. You'll never know what magic works best for you unless you take the time to try them yourself first.
3: The two stickied threads at the top of the Rit forum contain many sample builds, the guide also discusses second profession options:Basic Guide to Playing RitualistRitualist Build Directory Submissions

Ancestors Rage, Splinter Weapon are mandatory.
You can spec in resto for some heals: mend body and soul, spirit light. Maybe a spirit: life. And a res: Flesh of my flesh
2ndary you could probably go with anything. My rit is currently /mo for remove hex, you can also go /me for expel hexes, or /e for glyph of lesser energy.
I'm bad at rit, all I know is splinter + ancestors = funz.

In PVE, I'm partial to Rit Lord, although I do also run Resto and Damage builds from time-to-time as well.
The Rit Lord is essentially a group protection build - think prot monk but for the whole team. It is very effective if done well.
There are many variations of the build as with any build, but I'll list my favorite for me and also the one I use for my heroes, since you have to be a bit more careful with them on this build.
Attributes:
Spawning = 12+3+1 (total 16)
Communing = 12+1 (total 13)
Restoration = 3 (you can actually put these anywhere because all the skills are Spawning or Communing, but should you add a different skill, you'd want to allocate your balance points to that attribute)
I have boosted my energy with runes and armor upgrades.
I carry a HCT 20%, Energy 5^50 wand and Quansong's Focus.
Skills:
Boon of Creation (love this skill ^^)
Ritual Lord (elite)
Union
Shelter
Displacement
Optional (I will sometimes add Pain here for a quick energy boost when used while Boon is on)
Summon Spirits (Kurzick/Luxon skill - draws ALL spirits you control to your location)
Flesh of My Flesh
I have found Feast of Souls quite useful as well for a massive party-wide heal when the monk needed back-up.
For my heroes...
Boon of Creation
Rit Lord
Union
Shelter
Displacement
Might Was Vorizun
Pain (again for the cheapy)
Flesh of My Flesh
They cannot be trusted with Feast of Souls so if you add that instead of Pain, disable and manually use when you need it.

there's different builds depending on what you like to play. if looking for pve builds ill list the two most common ones i like to use
Offensive Spirit Build
Communing: 11 + 1 + 3
Spawning Magic: 10
Channeling Magic: 10
1) Pain
2) Bloodsong
3) Anguish
4) Vampirism
5) Painful Bond
6) Ritual Lord
7) Boon of Creation
8) Summon Spirits
this build is good for alot of missions especially ones where u have to camp out and wait for barrages of enemies to come towards you. nice for guarding gates in eternal grove, protecting npc's in vizunah square, and you can even solo small groups if farming is your thing. you can easily make spirits outside of battle, while maintaining energy through boon of creation. when ready for battle, use summon spirits to bring them into the fray or protect them from aoe based spells/attacks (remember it heals too). with ritual lord you can fully maintain all spirits during a battle whenever a new spirit needs to be called in. cast painful bond into a large group of enemies or target a boss for quick, armor ignoring dmg on each hit. even if you don't have nightfall (anguish and vampirism) you can still use shadowsong and another spirit or rez to fill the gaps. (anguish and vampirism fit the build best because they are, combined with bloodsong and pain, the highest damaging spirits in the game)
Restoration Build (usually use outside of factions cause mhenlo, or danika is usually somewhere around)
Healing Prayers: 10
Spawning Magic: 10
Restoration Magic: 11 + 1 + 3
1) Mend Body and Soul
2) Spirit Light
3) Soothe Memories
4) Gift of Health
5) Preservation
6) Life
7) Energetic was Lee Sa
8) Remove Hex/Lively Was Naomi/Flesh of my Flesh
this build, except for Energetic was Lee Sa, can be made entirely out of faction based skills. the only drawback of not having energetic in ur build is that you will have to find another way of energy management. but if you do have energetic you will find out that it is easy to maintain high levels of energy almost all the time, even in the midst of high tension battles. with 2 fast recharging spirits, you can remain mobile, not having to camp out in one position for extended periods of times (a drawback to some restoration builds that use recup/recov/rejuv/etc) Life which gives a large heal after it dies and Preservation, although random, heals a person that is near it as well. what Preservation lacks in its initial description, you gain back with your other 2 spells, Mend body and soul and spirit light. if 2 spirits are out when using mend body and soul, you can clear at least 2 conditions as well as healing your allies (condition removal increases if there are even more spirits on the field enemy or allied, so more spirits = more condition removal). also spirit light is one of the cheapest and largest healing spells in a rit's arsenal (only drawback is that you sac hp if not near a spirit, but its not really much of a drawback since u should have 2 spirits on the field at all times, again not counting allied/enemy spirits). soothe memories doesnt heal for as much as the other spells, but if used when carrying energetic was lee sa or another bundle item you gain 3 energy back. (this is the main energy management of the build energetic + soothe). gift of health also offers a quick cast/recharge heal if u invest some stats into healing prayers. ii use remove hex in the build, but if ur looking for a rez lively or flesh is nice.
hope one of these builds fits ur taste
