why salvage?

Mods are worth more on their own. You don't have to salvage, but they won't obtain their full value when on an item and won't increase the value of that item by more than what they are worth. With perfect salvage kits available there is no risk involved in salvaging anymore so you may as well sell them seperately and get more money if you can be bothered.
