Doing the doppleganger but failing bonus?

I just used 2 skills in my skill bar, Meteor Shower and Flare [put them at the last 2 slots]. Meteor Shower knocked him down when he's down spam Flare.

Match starts, use the sin on him, asap pain Inverter following and transform to UB and rush at the Doppeganger ...
The Dopel will watch all his time with the for him useless enchants ,preps ec.t, while the assassin smashes and interrupts at the Doppel and you as UB kick his butt in short time into the ground. The rest will be supported by self owning damage from pain inverter, if he tries maybe to attack you normally meanwhile, or the ebon sin
this tactics with manipulating skills to let the doppelganger become a dumb noob works with all professions, its just the matter of the right secondary mostly to have the right, or better said.. enough useful skills for your bar, with that the doppelganger will just waste time, while you can easily smash him to death in short time, so short, that you get eassily the bonus and will have the feeling, you could also do this blinded with only 1 finger
Or just a bunch of spells that do no damage and backfire? <3 mesmer

Hi, thanks for all the replies. Really appreciated, have only 3 missions left til the dopple, will use all the tips here, and find the optimal build 
As for why, I wanted to get alot of announcments in a row and screen it. Plus just for kicks, might as well max them out at the same time instead one each month or something.
It's just a personal thing, getting alot of titles in one day... I think I'll do it still, even though I guess half the titles I was planning on wont be announced if Dread Pirate is correct, which I am sure he is. It just makes for a nice before and after screenie I guess...

Well...just run around? My dopple had a spear, i had a axe...so he kept chucking, so if ur guy has a spear...keep dodging for 10min 
or 2min in HM then use empathy to kill him in about 20 sec

I used frenzy then I used ursan made it very easy in HM.A lvl 5 Monk can beat it with not much of problem.

Beating doppel should never be difficult if you put forethought into it. Here are some ideas -
1. PvE skills of any sort.
2. Spirits
3. Empathy
4. Insidious Parasite
5. Pet

if you want to beat the doppleganger and NOT get the bonus, the easiest thing to do (at least in normal mode) is to be */mo, have retribution, balthazar's spirit, and restfull breeze on your skillbar. cast balthazar's spirit before entering. stand there for >10 minutes casting restful breeze to keep at full health. after 10 minutes, cast retribution. and there you have it: killing doppleganger without triggering the bonus
