Do low req weapons drop random or....

I was wondering if weapons with Req 7-8 max damage were just random drops...
i only have this question because...
in "high end" there are people selling more than 5 at a time and i have never seen let alone got one in the 2 years of play....
is there spots where you are more lickley to find them or is it totally random?

More often than not they would buy for x amount of money and then resell.

but are they still competely radnom or do places like perdition rock(if thats how u spell it) have more drops because its further in the game... if im right then 55ing there lol.

I seem to get a lot of req8's in the Underworld, normal mode that is. I've gotten about 6 req8 shields, 1 req8 storm bow, 1 req8 eternal bow, and a few req8 swords and axes I think.

Many drops are tied to the area: Stormbows in UW or some Realm of Torment spots for example. I got a req 8 Stormbow in UW NM over a year ago after farming UW 2-man 55/ss for like 6 months. Got a req 8 Blessed Chalice in Far Shiverpeaks someplace a few months ago, while fighting my way to a new outpost. Gotten a couple of max white (clean) req 7 Shadow Shields in FoW.

You'll probably hear about more low-req stuff coming from UW/FoW, because people have been farming those areas the longest. It doesn't mean low-req stuff doesn't drop in other areas.

The quality of the drops is tied to the level of the monsters in the area. If you go farm or CR around Ascalon in NM, you're going to get lame drops because the monsters are level 3-6 or w/e. If you switch to HM and farm the same area, you'll get better drops.

The chance of getting a req 7/8 item is simply a lot less likely than getting the same item with a higher req in the same area. If there's 1/thousand chance of getting a req 9, there might be a 1/100thousand chance of getting a req 8, and a 1/100million chance of getting a req 7. Or something like that. Otherwise, everyone would be running around with req 7 perfect golds by now.

And these are just wild guesses for averages. There's no rule that says if there's a 1/100million chance of getting a req 7 and you do a farming run 100million times, you're going to get exactly 1 req 7. You might get a req 7 on every run, or you might never get one, ever.

I've been playing for 2 years, and I don't know how lucky or unlucky I've been, but I bet most people don't get many nice req 8s or 7s as drops, if any. The people selling them in high end might collect ultra low req stuff specifically -- I doubt they looted all the stuff they're selling.

Some people say it's likely to drop in areas in the middle of the continent of Tyria (E.G. Magumma Jungles) because of the location..

The people with like 5 at a time didn't have them drop for them, they are power trading. Buying items and then reselling them for more.

Yes its completely random.

Maybe we should make a sticky about item requirements because there is a new thread about this all the time.

People who have lots either got them over a long time of playing or bought them cause they are rich ^^
