My idea: maybe this naga's grandfather was a overpowered boss who was slain by one of cantha's heroes. and he was so powerfull that they named the city after him...

Wasn't one of the celestials stories in naphui quarter about slaying naga that had over run kaineng?

wiki says: Kaineng City is the capital of the Canthan Empire. It was founded by Kaineng Tah, the first Emperor of Cantha, and later named after him.

but it doesnt say anything about this naga boss...

As said below, Kaineng city was named by its founder: Kaineng Tah; first emperor of the empire of the dragon.

So im guessing that that Naga boss killed some sort of scholar during a raid and heard him call upon kaineng when he was cut down or something like that... and decided to name himself after this so that his people would recognize his strength and shiver in fear when hearing his name.

No matter how he obtained it, im guessing he named himself that way to be ''unique'' among his species... But we cant tell for sure because we dont know how intelligent the Naga actually are as a species nor do we know how their social behaviour works.

Maybe Kaineng is something in Canthan tongue for "great" or something, and just by coincidence this Naga shares his name with the Emperor?

If Kaineng means "annoying spirit rift spamming henchraper" in Canthan, then it's right.
