Kepkhet's Refuge vs. Chaelse's Staff?

Kepkhet's Refuge
Energy +10
Fire damage: 11-22 (req. 9 Divine Favor)
Halves casting time of Protection Prayers spells (Chance: 20%)
Halves skill recharge of spells (Chance: 20%)
Enchantments last 20% longer
Energy +5

Chaelse's Staff
Energy +15
Holy damage: 11-22 (req. 9 Protection Prayers)
Halves skill recharge of spells (Chance: 20%)
Halves casting time of Protection Prayers spells (Chance: 20%)
Enchantments last 20% longer

Exact same thing except for req/dmg type. For awhile I was casting my prot spells with a Kepkhet because I figured it was just as effective as the Chaelse. Recently, when offering to *freely* give someone who was looking for a Chaelse a Kepkhet, they rejected me because they needed the 20% stat boost or something.

This confuses me. Is there merit to using the Chaelse (with 9 prot) over the Kepkhet (with 4 divine) other than to get max damage out of it?

Thanks<3

Wanding damage is win. Every little bit of extra damage helps, I guess. And you might get lucky and waste a foe's RoF right before your ally's 80 damage Exe Strike hits.

Other than that... myeh.

Tbh, I wouldn't use either staff. My enchanting prot staff is Adept of Enchanting with a 20% HCT inscription; that is 20% HCT / 20% HCT / 20% HSR / +20% enchants.

For a healing staff, I run a similar staff, but with +30 instead of the 20% enchanting. (if you really want a healing staff. a 20/20 wand+offhand is far more beneficial)

Smiting staff is same as prot.

I don;t have a divine staff anymore. Haven't had one since people stopped running sb/infuse in tombs

I run a hybrid build, so I only use the prot staff to cast prot spirit/guardian then switch back to my 40/40 heal set to lighten up WoH a bit. I figure the extra couple seconds in prot spirit to help out dismiss condition is worth the 20% slower cast time of RoF/dismiss.

It works well enough for me, and also allows me to have 15 energy on the prot staff

Thanks for clearing this up, I didn't know what that guy was talking about but wondered if I missed something recently. And yeah the divine favor 4 was just a random number, I just meant to insinuate it wasn't at the 9 the staff demanded.

Since Kepkhet's Refuge is req 9 Divine Favor, the other person probably assumed that the HCT 20% applied to DF and not to Prot Prayers.
