You buy keys.

You run outside.

You open chests.

Repeat.

I'm pretty sure it goes something like this:

1. Locate chest.
2. Run to it.
3. Use key/pick, collect loot
4. Repeat

heh Zeek beat me

You just run arouind opening chests in an aera really, the number of chests is affected by the area and the loot by whatever mod guards it (its level and its race such as a luxon or an oni)

Nah, I don't invest that much time in telling experienced players simple things. >_< Don't mean to flame, but it's... honest.

Need to find yourself a suitable running spot. Ideally an area where the chests spawns are close together.

Chest running rarely brings in any sort of profit.

Port Sledge is a pretty easy area to learn in. You'll get a minimum of 2-3 chests per run.

Yeah pretty much just run around and open chests. Avoid combat as much as possible and search for chests to open.

Back when I did the odd run (2k+ chests) people use to run in groups. The idea was if the first drop was a gold everyone would open it, if the first drop was purple they'd move on to the next chest.

Not sure if this still goes on.

Doesn't happen any more since ANet changed it to be random for everyone.

People charge money for it because they put the time and effort into learning to use their skills correctly , they do the running for you and give you the drops and you pay them an amount agreed beforehand , you can either try and run with them or merely wait for them to come back . It is also beneficial to the runner as they get XP towards Treasure hunter title.
