So what is Ascalon like, now?
Biostem
In the course of Prophecies, from pre-searing until the ring of fire islands, there is a progression of time. When we travel back to old Ascalon, we are actually traveling back in time as well, though our characters may still have all their levels and skills.
Anyway, is there any place in the game where we can see what old Ascalon is like *after* the ring of fire islands and GWEN? I know there is mention of it by several characters, but it seems like there would be some changes since we left...
Is this something that will be addressed in GW2?

It would be nice if they added Ebonhawke to GW1 in an expansion, just so we could have an area of "Present" day Ascalon nearly, what? 10 years after the searing? Make it a quest that is only accessable after beating GW:EN. I personally wouldn't mind seeing some grass growing in that area.

All I can say is I hate ANet for waiting until the next game, at least, to clear up the fate of ascalon.
IMO after GWEN, our heroes should have killed all the char and returned to take the throne of Ascalon and producing a plethora of heirs due to a large harem.

Well if I were the king, that'd be the first thing I'd change.

unfortunately, Ascalon is one dead horse anet is determined to keep beating. Poor bastards can't catch a break...

Ebonhawk....that remind me Darth Revan´s ship in Kotor. And Post Searing Ascalon reminds me Korriban. Maybe Ante will introduce several references of this game into GW2?

Gwens "Then and Now, Here and There" quest takes you back to Ascalon and is set 8 years after the Searing. Nothing physically changes however the Charr have progressed hence foreshadowing Ascalons final fate.

That is the entire premise of Guild Wars 2... sorry, but how did you not realise that?
Winterclaw
I think I'd like the premise of GW2 better if they started off on a new world or a set of continents that you don't get to go to in GW1.

its much better, just to use the existing parts of GW1's Continents with its environmental changes due to the passed 200+ years through the cataclysms ect.
then improving those with the fact, that pßlayers will be in GW2 then able to explore everything... so we won't see in GW2 a World Map, from which we can only explore like 40% and the other 60% are unexploreable areas >.> like in GW ...
this was from the start on ever one imo of Anets biggest fails.. give us a huge cool looking map, and then are only 40% of it explorable >.<
Also knowing for GW2, that the World has the 3 Continents from GW1, its easier for Anet to complete the World of tyria by adding some new continents only, as when as said a complete new world should be thought out.
-------
Complete new worlds are imo for complete new games, which aren't sequels of a previous game.
