RUNNING contest!!

hi.guys i was in a running group today..from beacon pearch to Droknar forge.when an idea struck me..wouldnt it be nice.if there is a Running contest.instead of PVP all the time.plyrs will pit aginst each other with new ideas of running skills with wrums spawning and ice imp running after u?....

It'd be awkward because when you go through a portal, everyone else does too, and you don't know who goes through, unless you run with them. You could request screenies but that would be awkward and they can be modified.

well.how about a running contest from a place to another without zone...but some enemies in the way.the beetle contest isnt that fun....with ur own characters.u get to equip the running skills that u come up with.

Just have someone in every race that dies and watches the runners

You can also have this guy take the screens to show results or something.

Thats actually pretty easy to organize in small groups.

With a party size of 8 you can have one referee and 7 runners. The ref. gets himself killed right at the beginning.
When the run starts the ref is free to look at every partymembers view over the party select feature and can then say who gets to a portal first and who wins.

we had these in the past no? and decided that w/a would win all the time because of skills like return and recall

Didn't someone have a huge running contest back in the day? From like, Ascalon to LA and the places in between. And another for the Droks run?

But, for tips, you could just zone into where ever the finish line is and the first to get there wins. Of course you'd have an official with each player to make sure they actually did the run and not just zoned to you after 10 mins..

Oh, and you might wanna put this in the contest area.

i am HOping that Guild wars Offical.would make a New type of PVP like this.ya know...thy could provide a landscape with enemies in it for us to run in...with timer ..and traps...it wont be the same as beetlerun.cuz u be bringing ur own Combo of skills...everyone will fork out maybe 100 gold or more at the end of the match the winner get all the gold...it be so cool.......

We use to organise these in our guild and it was a lot of fun especcialy because everyone was using different builds. Its also great to see who is daring to take the hardest spawns first, or who will be the coward and wait for someone to take agro then run through, although it doesnt always work that way.

This however is player created, no need for anet to add it because it would be a waste of time, plus Droks is incredibly easy now so there wont be much challange with 6 people.

I don't think Anet supports running through the game and skipping 90% of the content in the game. I doubt they are going to start rewarding you for that.

What it sounds like you're suggesting is to have an offical PvP running contest that's part of the game, instead of just a player based artifical proffession? That sounds neat! After all, not all of GW is about killing stuff, and I think roller beetles proved how popular non-combat PvP can be.

If you want one, get your guild to organize it. You can advertise it here, select a date and a time, get a roster of people who want to compete and have someone play the observer of the race.

This isn't something Anet needs to implement, but it isn't a bad idea, so there's no reason why you shouldn't organize it yourself and give out prizes...

Yeah, it's a great even to organize by a guild, but definitely not something Anet needs to waste resources on.
