I have an account with eleven character slots and am about to add the BMP when it comes out (on Monday).

With 11 PvE characters, how many weapons will I be able to gather in total?

As many as you want. You can repeat the mission with all you characters as many times as you want.

..sweet. For some reason I was under the impression only one of each type could be claimed with each character.

nope, each character can do each mission over and over for the base reward as many times as you want, you can only get the rewards for the bonus objectives once per account though.

Alright, seeing as no one was able to answer the real question here:

You will be able to aquire 3124 weapons total, assuming you want one of each type (and in caster weapons, one for every attribute).

No because you don't have enough storage/mule space.

Oh yes, to the OP, you won't be able to aquire nearly that amount because Anet will probably never expand the size of storage any bigger than it is.

575, assuming you own every campaign and every character has a belt pouch + 2 bags with runs of holding.

Not including weapons that will be equipped

That's not right either - you forgot the weapons slots of the heroes.

Basically, as Mister Me said, there's no limit, other than storage space. Note, though, that the weapons are customized to the character that got them.

Depends upon how many heroes (& what campaigns/expansions) you have.

Infinite. That was easy. Now try this one.
You have ten cans of peas. The cans are open. In each can, there are 100 peas. In 9 of the ten cans, each pea weighs 1 gram. In the tenth can, each pea weighs only .9 grams. You do not know which can has the smaller peas, nor is it possible to tell with the naked eye. To help you, you have an electronic scale. However, the scale is not in great shape, and can only provide one correct measurement before permanently malfunctioning. How can one, using only the one measurement afforded by the scale, determine beyond a shadow of a doubt which can it is that has the smaller peas?

Simple. You take a different number of peas out of each can, so 1 from the first can, 2 from the second can, etc til 10 from the 10th can. You put these all on the scale. There will be 55 peas on the scale. Now you weigh them and depending on the outcome you can figure out which can had the lighter peas. If all the peas were equal you'd get 55 grams. If the first can had the lighter peas you'd get 55-0.1 = 54.9 grams. If the second can held the lighter peas you'd get 54.8g and so on, you get the idea
