I've noticed that there's a significant number of skills that give exactly +24 armor that doesn't scale with attribute investment.
These include:
[skill]Disciplined Stance[/skill][skill]Defensive Stance[/skill][skill]Conviction[/skill][skill]"Shields Up!"[/skill]
+40 armor, as I recall, should be roughly half damage, so +20 should be 1/4 less damage. On top of that, armor bonuses from skills only stack to +25. This makes +24 seem like a very random, arbitrary number. Anyway, does anyone know if 24 is somehow a "magic number" in the Guild Wars armor calculations? Why would Anet have chosen it over and over again for skills from Prophecies all the way to Eye of the North?
+24 armor?

The only thing I can think of is shields cause they have an ar of 16.

Now that the limit is 25, 24armor does seam like a strange number to have. |

although i never really thought that it could have been a lucky number or something along those lines
