Tex-mod what is it?

1. You utilise a texture modification so that you can more easily notice which areas you've already uncovered, and which areas you haven't.
2+3. There's a link to it on the Guild Wars Wiki. Here's something a little more in-depth:

Some virus scanners will register a false positive when scanning the Texmod.exe file. However, the link on the wiki site leads to a clean version of the program, free of problems.
As for the cartography mod, it can be found at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide..._modifications along with dozens of other fun and helpful mods created by the community.
If you need any help setting up Texmod, or the cartography mod, feel free to PM me in-game. IGN: Pyron Sy.

You open the TPFs with TexMod. First you select which program to open with Texmod (Guild Wars). Then you select open file xxwhateverxx.tpf. Then "run program" (or something like that).
And no, Texmod won't have viruses and stuff to steal your account. Texmod has been around since Tomb Raider in 1996. It is a fairly safe program as long as you download it from a legit site. Many virus scanners will falsly ID texmod as a virus (especially McAffee) though since its a program that opens and temporarily alters another program. Just disable your virus scanner when you run it.

2. Download the mods you want to use (These should be in .tpf format and only that), make a folder specifically for them (i.e. C:\....\Guild Wars\tpf mods (Provided you use Windows)).
3. Run Texmod, click the large folder icon, navigate to your Guild Wars file and select "gw.exe".
4. Click the smaller folder icon, select "Browse," navigate to C:\....\Guild Wars\tpf mods (or wherever else you saved the .tpf's), select the mod you want to use.
5. Repeat step 4 if there are more than one mod you want to use.
6. Select the "Run" button on the lower portion of the Texmod window.
Guild Wars is now running with the mods, you can close the TexMod window. (Note, you can't use the command line functions such as -password when opening Guild Wars with the use of TexMod)
This is the simplest I can put it, if you don't understand this, just forget about the process entirely and live life as if you had never heard of it in the first place.

There's several versions of that one, at least some of which appear to be broken - the one linked to from guildwiki doesn't work on my machine, for instance. I downloaded the file from another link I found with Google, and that worked.
OK I have a problem. I have been using texmod for quite some time. I use it to help me getting cartographer titles for my characters. I downloaded, and used the one from the wiki page. I'v had no problems what so ever. I have had Norton Anti-virus 2005 on my machine ever since I purchased it. Now just the other day Norton starts taken a fit about texmod, and will not allow me to use the program. I added it to the exclusion list, I added the folder texmod is in to the exclusion list. Norton is still pitching a fit, and I cannot use texmod. Really sucks cuz I was almost done getting my derv her Canthan Cartographer title.
