I Honestly think that Prophecies was the easiest campaign, though i found that (since it was my first) my builds and teams were a bit mis-matched and i failed a LOT of bonuses because of it. another thing, there are a few missions where it is very hard to get both mission and bonus for the mission in one run, you will have to return and do bonus seperately. (another reason why i love proph, dont have to finish the mission to complete side objective, hinthint NIGHTFALL hinthint) i think that the hardest mission BEFORE the desert would have to be Riverside Province, getting bonus was tricky for me on that one, especially with a PUG. if you havnt been pointed this way already, allow me to point you towards GuildWiki. ( www.gw.gamewikis.org ) it has answers to pretty well any question you could possibly ask. good luck with prophecies!

i would have to agree with mithran on this the hard ones i think are in HM the nm missions just take patiences and time Aurora Glade i found very hard to do and ThK HM is horrible with hero/hench i had to get 6 guildies to help me with it
the hardest part of the HM missions though is to find a group

As for hardest, I think it really depends on your build and your team. Given, having decked-out heroes makes most of all the campaigns easier than using henchies, and missions will be harder in hard mode. But different people find the same mission to be easier or harder depending on their build and their playstyles.
You haven't finished Prophecies, but if this isn't your first campaign, you may find most of Prophecies to be relatively easy compared to the missions in Factions or NF. For me, most of the hard stuff in Prophecies went away with the introduction of heroes and the h/h flags. If you're looking for a challenge, try the missions without heroes (team is you, friends and/or henchies,) and don't use the henchie flag. You could even try using only core or Prophecies skills on your bar. That'll give you more of a feeling for how hard the game was originally designed. ANet doesn't often, if ever, adjust the difficulty of one campaign because of features available from another campaign.
A note about THK (Thunderhead Keep) that everyone keeps mentioning - it's nowhere near as hard as it used to be. They've scaled it way back in terms of the amount of time you wait between waves of attackers. Last time I did that in Normal Mode it was actually so boring that we left the king and started going outside the keep looking for fights.
IMO, this was a bad change. I haven't tried it in HM, but friends and I no longer enjoy that mission when just helping someone get a new character out to the island.
Sanctum Cay hasn't ever really been hard if you do the bonus, them simply wait at the wall and pull (with a longbow) the mantle up in smaller groups to kill off. You have to get a lot closer to the dock than longbow range for the Vizier to appear there.
Oh, and Diversion pwns Willa
Cheers

^Sounds like you're not infused. I'd suggest traveling to Iron Mines of Moladune - you can get infused inside that mission with little trouble.
Then you can go back to tackle Ice Caves of Sorrow.

If you only have Prophecies then all can be henched.....
What you have to realise some guys are posting re heros ect..
So all are not really difficult if you plan with Lure ect in the latter missions
I used to always carry a bow depending on the build for that purpose when henched only ..no heros
with the hench having a mind of there own at present running off to agro some guys just take your time and you will master all
As far as Aura glade there is a simple way to get ..just stay at shrine near the Druid..down the hill a little, and you will have only small groups coming to claim the last shrine just take each group out as they come ,crystal carrier always first... when last group has came just go and kill the level 16 Boss for bonus..then activate the other 2 shines for cut scene..

I have to agree with the "nothing in prophecies is hard" comment, however it really depends on the player and which campaigns he owns. If you only own Prophecies then these missions are hard! If you have all 4 games then you have a nice selection of really cool skills like pain inverter and Savannah heat that just steam roll Prophecies areas that weren't designed with these skills in mind.
So, while I don't consider any of them hard (in normal mode), there are definitely some annoying ones.
- Aurora Glade: time consuming doing the whole mission then wiping at the end.
- The Wilds: Don't pug this one. Some lamebrain wammo will kill the centaur.
- Divinity Coast: Protect helpless NPCs that are too stupid to run away from the red dots is not my cup of tea.
- Ruins of Surmia: See comment under "The Wilds".
A lot of people have commented on the desert missions. I enjoy those. The desert missions are designed specifically to prepare you for Heroes Ascent. HA used to be placed at the end of the desert, not in a separate Battle Isles. So the desert missions try to teach you strategy elements that you encounter in HA. (Relic running, protect the altar, working with Ghostly, priest resurrection, etc)
I'm currently working my way thru the missions in HM. I sailed thru the first ones with no problems at all. I've gotten stuck at D'Alessio Seaboard. No matter what I try I can't seem to reach whatshisname before he dies. I've attempted a smattering of missions after this and so far I haven't encountered many issues finishing them. The desert was easy. The Southern Shiverpeaks were easy. The jungle ones seem to be tough and I haven't attempted any in the Ring of Fire yet.

Thunderkeep CAMP THE DWARF CAMP THE DWARF come on quit attacking the dwarf holy crap you just fried him to death. (old days before heroes)
Also the Frost Gate mission although easy with max armor and 20 level if you actually try to do the bonus as you come to it low level and low armor it is hard and I quote from WIKI
Beware of two groups of Stone Summit there; if they are together, they will pose a significant challenge, especially with several Dolyak Riders healing each other and the Summit.

Nothing is hard in Prophecies anymore because of the Heroes (and the Ursan Blessing hehehe).
But it was not the case when we only have Prophecies.
The hardest I can remember back then was the THK Mission. I gave up on it first and created a monk (they are always looking for a monk back then). I first finished Prophecies in my monk character.
I am a solo player but i was forced to join teams (pugs) in the desert missions and in the ring of fire. So, i guess those are really difficult missions back then.
