BMP - look at it differently, what if they had NO campaigns/expansions
Solange
and instead they released these bonus mission packs every month for $9.99 or $14.99
if you didn't buy them you could still play the game like usual but this is moving into the monthly fee territory isn't it? its just molded a bit different
WoW kicks ya to the curb if you don't play but these are like those Battlefield 2 or 2142 booster packs that give players new items/areas if you pay...

Turtle222
Nope, thats just like a subscription tbh - something i played gw for not having

No difference in how it is now, really. Instead of paying smaller fees you have to pay a big fee.
And Turtle, I'm on TF2 if you want to rawk some sox.

If I see another BMP thread my eyes are going to bleed.
Bad idea, sorry

I don't think it's a bad idea, honestly.
1. It's optional. You can still play the game and not pick up the pack. Or only pick up the packs you want, instead of a whole Chapter.
2. It's about the same price as Chapters: $60 every 6 months (assuming the Chapters actually came out every 6 months).
The only questions are, is it cost effective for the designers? Is it easier to make 6 expansion packs, or one Chapter?
Which would sell better? My guess is Anet would make more money off of big Chapters than $10 exp. packs, but that's a total guess.
Turtle: It's nothing like a monthly fee, because monthly fees aren't optional!

I like they fact that I get to play a game with much better combat than WoW for $50 a year instead of $155 + Initial & Expansion cost.

They wanted to put out a Chapter every 6 months... that's over $100 a year.
But, in reality, they averaged one Chapter every year, plus an expansion. So, yeah, good deal for us.
Pan Head
I kinda like it as well. Besides you could just buy the ones you wanted. At the seep you wanted to buy it. It has allot of pros and cons but could be a workable idea if it is done right.

I'd probably stop playing. Might as well just charge us subscription.

The major difference between what you get with a traditional MMO and Guild Wars is that when you fork money over to Blizzard (or whoever) you get nothing in return. When you fork money over to ANet you get something for it - added content. Something you still have to pay for with a traditional MMO.
If you have a bonus mission pack every month or so, even if it costs you 15 bucks, at the very least you are getting added content for it. So, it's not really the same as traditional pay to play MMO's.
Personally though, I am not too keen on mini-expansions idea. They need to add new arenas before they do anything else anyway.

I don't really understand how this idea is anything like a subscription. A subscription is required to play the game, and you aren't necessarily paying for content, since new content may not be released every month. This idea provides a purely optional, paying-for-actual-content system.
However, I wouldn't like it. Sure, I loved the BMP, but I doubt standalone missions would keep me playing. If they released a couple of small expansions that add a couple of missions between their expansions, then that would be fantastic. But if they dropped the expansions entirely, then it wouldn't be enough to keep me enthralled and I would drop the game.

Careful man... I started a thread sometime before NF came out saying ANet should sell a PvP-Only version of the game for 20 bucks and got flamed so hardcore...

ANet almost listened to you too, Horseman. They really should have paid closer attention to the 20 bucks part though.
